If you are reading this, you already understand that criminal investigation is a serious discipline — and that most of the material available to students treats it as something considerably less than that. You have seen the surface-level overviews, the introductory textbooks that gesture at the law without actually teaching it, and the training content that mistakes procedural theater for procedural accuracy. You are here because you want more than that. So am I.

I built the Criminal Investigation Academy because I believe that students of criminal justice, aspiring investigators, legal professionals, and working officers deserve the same doctrinal rigor that has always defined serious academic legal and investigative training. That means engaging with the Fourth Amendment not as a slogan about privacy, but as a body of doctrine with specific holdings, exceptions, and constitutional consequences. It means understanding chain-of-custody requirements not as bureaucratic formality, but as the evidentiary foundation upon which prosecutions stand or fall. It means being able to look at a case file, a search warrant application, or an interrogation record and identify — with precision — exactly where the procedural analysis holds and where it breaks down.

The curriculum moves the way a real investigation moves: from the initial report through crime scene management, evidence collection, digital forensics, interviewing and interrogation, and all the way through to national security operations and intelligence-led policing. Constitutional law is not a separate chapter to be checked off — it runs through every unit, because it runs through every stage of every lawful investigation. You will be asked to think, to apply doctrine to facts, and to critically evaluate where procedures succeed and where they fail. That is how this material must be taught if it is going to be of any use to you in the real world.

I make no apologies for the level of rigor here. The law does not make exceptions for people who didn't study carefully, and neither does an evidentiary hearing.
