Master Criminal Procedure. Think Like a Lawyer.

If you have ever sat in a criminal procedure course and felt the doctrine slide off the page — you could recite Miranda but couldn't tell me whether the warning was required on those facts, could name the exclusionary rule but froze when asked whether good-faith saved the search — then I want to talk to you directly. That gap between knowing and applying is exactly what this school exists to close.

Criminal procedure is one of the most consequential bodies of law in the American legal system. It governs what the police can do to your client before they arrest them, what the prosecution must disclose before trial, what a judge will suppress if the warrant was defective, and what rights survived even after a conviction. Every person who works in or around the criminal justice system — law student, paralegal, prosecutor, public defender, federal agent, or criminal justice professional — needs to understand this doctrine with precision. Vague answers are not good enough in a suppression hearing, and they are not good enough here.

What I have built in this school is the course I wish more students had access to: one that starts with constitutional foundations — the incorporation doctrine, due process, equal protection — and builds carefully through the Fourth Amendment's warrant architecture, the Katz framework, Terry stops, the exclusionary rule, and the rapidly evolving law of digital surveillance. Then we move to the Fifth and Sixth Amendments, where we do not just quote Miranda — we analyze custody, interrogation, waiver, invocation, and reinitiation, and we apply those rules to the ambiguous fact patterns where they actually matter. We trace the full criminal case from arrest through habeas corpus. And then we go somewhere most criminal procedure courses never go: inside the National Security Division of the DOJ, where FISA warrants, National Security Letters, and classified-information procedures operate in a legal universe that standard practice barely touches.

I will not let you get away with a surface-level answer. The Socratic method is not a gimmick here — it is a training tool. By the time you have worked through the suppression motion workshop, the landmark case clinic, and the capstone case file, you will not just know what the rules say. You will know how to use them. That is what separates the professionals who are prepared from the ones who are guessing.
