If you've ever stared at an algebra problem and felt that sinking feeling — like everyone else in the room understands something you somehow missed — I want you to know that feeling is more common than you think, and it is not a reflection of how smart you are. It's usually a reflection of how the material was presented. Algebra II has a reputation for being the course where math "gets hard," but more often than not, what makes it hard is the pace, the jargon, and the assumption that students already have everything figured out from Algebra I. This course is my answer to all of that.
I built this course around one belief: every student can do this math when it's explained clearly, broken into manageable steps, and connected to things that actually make sense in the real world. We start with the foundation — what a relation is, what makes something a function, how to read and write function notation — because those ideas underpin everything else we'll do. We don't rush past them to get to the "real" Algebra II. They are the real Algebra II, and getting them right makes the rest of the course feel far less intimidating.
From linear functions to systems of equations, every topic in this course is taught with the same approach: here's the concept in plain language, here's what it looks like, here's a real-world situation where it shows up, and here's how you work through it step by step. Word problems aren't treated as a dreaded add-on — they're woven into the course because that's where math becomes meaningful. And rather than waiting until a big test to find out something didn't land, I've built in frequent check-ins so you always know where you stand and can move forward with confidence.
