C&D
If you've ever stood in an Asian grocery store feeling slightly overwhelmed, staring at three different kinds of soy sauce, wondering which fermented paste you actually need, and quietly wishing someone knowledgeable was standing next to you, we made this course for you.
We know that feeling well, because we’ve both been that person. And we’ve also been the person on the other side of it: sitting in a night market in Chiang Mai, or a family kitchen in Tehran, or a tiny restaurant tucked off a busy street in Osaka, having a moment of genuine revelation about what food can communicate, about a place, a people, a history, a way of being in the world. That gap between confusion and revelation is exactly what Around the Asian Table is designed to close.
This course is the distillation of years spent eating, cooking, learning, and traveling across Asia, and a deep frustration with how the continent's food is usually taught. Most cooking resources treat "Asian cuisine" like a single, interchangeable category. They flatten it. They borrow a technique here, a recipe there, and skip the context that makes any of it meaningful. We wanted to build something that honors the full, astonishing breadth of the continent, from the fermented boldness of Korean banchan to the restrained elegance of Japanese kaiseki principles, from the Silk Road flavors of Uzbekistan to the seafood-rich islands of the Maldives. Every country deserves its own story. Every dish deserves its real history.
What we’ve built is a structured, region-by-region journey that teaches you to cook with both hands: one hand in the pan, one hand in the culture. You'll stock a pantry that actually makes sense, learn the techniques that define each region, and finish with the ability to plan and host a full multi-course Asian dinner party, with the etiquette, the tea service, the spice blends, and the confidence to explain every dish to your guests. Not because you followed a recipe card, but because you understand it.
We won't pretend this is a quick fix or a shortcut. It's a real, rich, unhurried culinary education, the kind you'd only get otherwise from years of travel and a lot of very good meals. If you're ready to go that deep, we both genuinely would love to be your guide. Pull up a chair. The table is set, and it stretches from Tokyo to Tbilisi.
