Explore every system inside your amazing body
A fun, hands-on anatomy school that guides kids through every major body system — from beating hearts to busy brains — using stories, activities, and colorful diagrams. Perfect for young learners who want to understand how their own amazing body works.

"I believe every child deserves to look at their own body and think: I understand you, and you are absolutely incredible."— Denise Chenault-Lang

What you'll learn
What you'll be able to do
- Name and describe all 11 major human body systems and their primary functions
- Explain how the skeletal and muscular systems work together to produce movement
- Trace the journey of a single breath through the respiratory system and a heartbeat through the circulatory system
- Identify key organs — brain, lungs, stomach, kidneys — and explain what each one does every day
- Complete simple at-home experiments (pulse checks, lung-capacity tests) to observe their own body systems in action
- Confidently use correct anatomical vocabulary when talking or writing about the human body

Welcome to Your Amazing Body
Sets the stage for the entire course by introducing students to the concept of body systems as interconnected networks, building the foundational vocabulary and observational mindset they will rely on throughout every subsequent module.
- 1.1What Is a Body System?Included
- 1.2Anatomy Vocabulary BootcampIncluded
- 1.3Mapping the Human Body — Orientation & Anatomical PositionIncluded
The Body's Framework — Skeletal and Muscular Systems
Examines the structural and movement systems of the body in depth. Students progress logically from the static scaffold (bones) to the active force generators (muscles), then synthesise both into a unified understanding of coordinated movement — directly addressing the outcome on skeletal–muscular cooperation.
- 2.1Bones — Your Living ScaffoldIncluded
- 2.2Muscles — The Body's EnginesIncluded
- 2.3Moving Together — How Bones and Muscles CooperateIncluded
Breath and Heartbeat — Respiratory and Circulatory Systems
Guides students step-by-step through the two systems most directly observable in their own bodies. The lesson sequence traces a single breath from nostril to alveolus and a single heartbeat from atrium to body, then unifies both journeys into the concept of oxygen delivery — directly fulfilling the 'trace a breath and a heartbeat' outcome.
- 3.1Every Breath You Take — The Respiratory SystemIncluded
- 3.2The Beating Heart — The Circulatory SystemIncluded
- 3.3Oxygen Delivery — How Breathing and Circulation Work TogetherIncluded
Fuel and Waste — Digestive, Urinary, and Endocrine Systems
Explores how the body processes the food and drink it takes in, filters and removes what it does not need, and uses chemical signals to regulate all of these processes. Students follow matter through the body from ingestion to excretion, and understand that the endocrine system acts as the overall chemical supervisor.
- 4.1The Long Journey of a Sandwich — The Digestive SystemIncluded
- 4.2Cleaning the Blood — The Urinary SystemIncluded
- 4.3Chemical Messengers — The Endocrine SystemIncluded
Command and Defence — Nervous, Immune, Lymphatic, and Integumentary Systems
Covers the systems that detect, respond to, and defend against threats — both internal (pathogens) and external (stimuli). The lymphatic system is moved here from the final module where it was under-developed, given its direct partnership with the immune system. Students learn how the brain commands all other systems and how multiple defence layers work together.
- 5.1The Body's Supercomputer — The Nervous SystemIncluded
- 5.2Your Five Senses — The Nervous System in ActionIncluded
- 5.3The Body's Army and Its Supply Network — Immune and Lymphatic SystemsIncluded
- 5.4The Body's Shield — Skin, Hair, and Nails (Integumentary System)Included
The Reproductive System and All Systems United — Capstone Module
Introduces the final body system (reproductive) with age-appropriate clarity, then brings all 11 systems together in a comprehensive capstone that celebrates students' cumulative knowledge. Students demonstrate they can name, describe, and interconnect all systems — fulfilling every stated learning outcome — and complete a portfolio reflection using correct anatomical vocabulary.
- 6.1The Reproductive System — How Life ContinuesIncluded
- 6.2All 11 Systems — Connections and CooperationIncluded
- 6.3Capstone Showcase and Celebration — All Systems Go!Included
Who it's for
Is this you?
The Curious Kid
They ask 'why' about everything — and now they finally get real, satisfying answers about what's happening inside their own body.
Homeschool Parent
Building a life-science unit and needs a structured, engaging curriculum that covers all 11 systems without missing a beat.
Primary School Teacher
Looking for a supplemental biology program that genuinely excites a classroom of 7–12 year olds and reinforces correct scientific vocabulary.
The Young Aspiring Doctor
Already fascinated by medicine and wants a head start learning the names, functions, and connections of the human body's major systems.
Parent of a Reluctant Learner
Their child switches off at the word 'science' — but stories, experiments, and friendly analogies make this the course that finally clicks.
After-School Enrichment Coordinator
Needs a modular, self-contained science program that works in short sessions and keeps mixed-age groups curious and engaged.

A note from your teacher
Denise Chenault-Lang
Maybe your child came home from school one day and asked, "Why does my heart beat faster when I'm scared?" Or maybe they caught a glimpse of a diagram in a library book and said, "What IS all that stuff inside me?" And you thought — I want to give them a real answer. A good one. One that actually sticks.
That's exactly why Body Systems Academy exists.
I designed this course because I believe children are natural scientists. They are endlessly curious about the world, and nothing is closer to their world than their own body. But so much biology education either talks down to kids — oversimplifying until there's nothing left to be curious about — or buries them in jargon before they've had a chance to wonder. I wanted to do something different: treat young learners as the capable, brilliant explorers they already are, and give them the real vocabulary, the real systems, and the real wow moments that come with understanding how a human body actually works.
In Body Systems Academy, we start with orientation — what a body system even is, and how to read the human body like a map. Then we build, module by module: the skeleton and muscles working as a team, the lungs and heart passing oxygen like a relay race, a sandwich making its long journey through the digestive system, and finally the nervous system running the whole show from its command centre in the brain. Every single one of the 11 major systems gets its own spotlight. And in our capstone module, kids get to see them all click together — because that's when biology becomes genuinely breathtaking.
The experiments matter to me just as much as the lessons. When a child puts two fingers to their wrist and feels their own pulse, or blows into a bottle and watches their lung capacity become visible — that's not just science. That's a child realising their body is extraordinary. That moment of wonder is what I'm here to give every single learner who walks through this course.
If you're a parent looking for something that respects your child's intelligence, a homeschool educator building a rigorous life-science unit, or a kid who just wants to know what's going on inside — you're in exactly the right place. Come and explore. Your amazing body has been waiting to be discovered.
