1

Foundations of Inclusive Virtual Learning at Brown Tech Academy

This foundational module establishes the legal, philosophical, and instructional bedrock of Brown Tech Academy's Pre-K–12 virtual ecosystem. Learners build a unified mental model connecting IDEA mandates, UDL design principles, ABA-informed instruction, and Common Core alignment before engaging with any specialized content. Sequenced first because all downstream modules — IEP development, therapy coordination, STEM pathways, and assessment — depend on fluency with these anchoring frameworks.

  • 1.1IDEA, FAPE, and the Legal Architecture of Inclusive EducationIncluded
  • 1.2Universal Design for Learning: Building Access from the StartIncluded
  • 1.3ABA Principles as an Instructional FoundationIncluded
  • 1.4Common Core Alignment in a Diverse, Virtual ClassroomIncluded
  • 1.5Virtual Learning Environment Orientation and Digital Equity FoundationsIncluded
2

IEP Development, Compliance, and Student-Centered Planning

Building directly on Module 1's legal and instructional foundations, this module guides learners through the complete IEP cycle — from initial evaluation and eligibility determination through Present Levels, goal writing, service documentation, and annual review. Every lesson is anchored in IDEA compliance, UDL integration, and ABA-informed goal construction, with explicit attention to the virtual delivery context. A prerequisite lesson on evaluation procedures has been added to ensure learners enter goal-writing with full understanding of the data sources that drive it.

  • 2.1Evaluation, Eligibility, and Present Levels of Academic and Functional PerformanceIncluded
  • 2.2Writing Measurable, ABA-Informed IEP Goals and ObjectivesIncluded
  • 2.3Accommodations, Modifications, and Service Documentation in a Virtual SettingIncluded
  • 2.4IEP Team Collaboration, Family Engagement, and Annual ReviewIncluded
3

Sensory-Based Instruction, SEL, and Self-Regulation Across Grade Bands

This module addresses the affective and neurological dimensions of learning in Brown Tech Academy's virtual environment. Sequenced after the IEP module — because sensory, SEL, and self-regulation goals are now being written into IEPs — learners move from understanding sensory processing and social-emotional frameworks to applying them in virtual instruction, coaching executive function, and embedding trauma-informed, culturally responsive practices. A new prerequisite lesson on neurological and developmental foundations has been added to ground all subsequent strategies in evidence.

  • 3.1Neurological and Developmental Foundations of Sensory and Emotional LearningIncluded
  • 3.2Sensory Processing Fundamentals and the Virtual Learning EnvironmentIncluded
  • 3.3Evidence-Based SEL Frameworks: CASEL, Zones of Regulation, and BeyondIncluded
  • 3.4Executive Function Coaching and Self-Regulation Skill BuildingIncluded
  • 3.5Trauma-Informed Practices and Culturally Responsive SELIncluded
4

Coordinating Therapy Services in a Virtual Environment

This module translates the therapy services documented in students' IEPs (Module 2) into skilled virtual delivery and transdisciplinary coordination. Learners develop practical competency in the unique demands of delivering speech-language, occupational, and physical therapy through a screen, documenting services in a virtual system, and building the co-treatment and team communication structures that ensure therapy goals generalize into academic and daily-living success. A critical lesson on assistive technology and alternative/augmentative communication (AAC) has been added to address a gap.

  • 4.1Speech-Language Therapy in Virtual Instruction: Delivery, Tools, and IEP IntegrationIncluded
  • 4.2Occupational Therapy: Supporting Fine Motor, Sensory, and Daily Living Skills VirtuallyIncluded
  • 4.3Physical Therapy: Mobility, Positioning, and Movement in the Virtual School DayIncluded
  • 4.4Assistive Technology and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) in Virtual ServicesIncluded
  • 4.5Transdisciplinary Team Coordination and Co-Treatment in a Virtual ModelIncluded
5

STEM, Challenge-Based Learning, and Career & Technical Education Pathways

This module builds rigorous, inclusive, and future-ready learning pathways that connect real-world problem-solving to college and career readiness for all learners, including students with disabilities. Sequenced after therapy and SEL modules — so that sensory, behavioral, and communication supports are already established — learners design challenge-based STEM experiences, integrate assistive and coding technologies, build inclusive CTE pathways, and develop authentic assessment systems. A new lesson on transition planning and post-secondary readiness has been added to close a critical gap for students with disabilities.

  • 5.1Challenge-Based Learning Design for Inclusive Virtual STEMIncluded
  • 5.2Computer Science, Coding, and Assistive Technology IntegrationIncluded
  • 5.3Career and Technical Education: Inclusive Pathways from Middle School to WorkforceIncluded
  • 5.4Transition Planning and Post-Secondary Readiness for Students with DisabilitiesIncluded
  • 5.5Project-Based STEM Assessment and Authentic Demonstration of LearningIncluded
6

Data-Driven Assessment, Progress Monitoring, and Personalized Learning Pathways

The culminating module synthesizes all prior learning into a coherent, schoolwide system for tracking individual learner growth, evaluating program effectiveness, and continuously improving equitable outcomes at Brown Tech Academy. Sequenced last because it requires fluency with IEP goals, therapy services, STEM assessments, and SEL frameworks — all of which now feed into data dashboards and decision cycles. A new lesson on universal screening has been added as a prerequisite to progress monitoring, and a lesson on communicating data to stakeholders has been added to close the accountability loop.

  • 6.1Building a Schoolwide Assessment ArchitectureIncluded
  • 6.2Universal Screening and Early Identification Across the ContinuumIncluded
  • 6.3Progress Monitoring: Graphing, Decision Rules, and Instructional ResponseIncluded
  • 6.4Personalized Learning Pathways: Adaptive Technology and Differentiated PacingIncluded
  • 6.5Data Reporting, Equity Dashboards, and Continuous School ImprovementIncluded
  • 6.6Communicating Data to Families, Students, and the Broader CommunityIncluded

If you've ever sat in an IEP meeting and felt like the system was speaking a language designed to keep you at arm's length — as a parent, a new educator, or even a seasoned therapist from a different discipline — then I want you to know: that feeling is exactly what The Professional Resource Ecosystem by Brown Tech Academy Industry was built to change.

Too many children with learning differences, disabilities, and diverse needs are sitting in virtual classrooms that were simply not designed with them in mind. The tools exist. The frameworks exist. The legal protections exist. But somewhere between the policy and the practice, between the goal written in a document and the child sitting in front of a screen, something gets lost. I built this curriculum because I believe every person on a child's team deserves to understand the full picture — and every child deserves a team that does.

Here's what I want you to walk away with: not just knowledge, but confidence. Confidence to write an IEP goal that is truly measurable and truly meaningful. Confidence to coordinate a virtual therapy session that integrates seamlessly with a student's academic and behavioral goals. Confidence to look at a progress-monitoring graph and know exactly what instructional decision to make next. Confidence to sit across from a family — or to be that family — and have a real, honest, data-grounded conversation about how a child is growing.

This curriculum doesn't ask you to choose between clinical rigor and human warmth. It insists on both. You'll go deep into IDEA and FAPE, ABA-informed goal writing, UDL, CASEL, sensory processing, AAC, equity dashboards, challenge-based STEM, and transition planning for post-secondary readiness. Every module is grounded in evidence and built for the virtual environment — because that is where millions of our learners are, and they deserve every advantage we can give them.

Whether you're a parent who just wants to understand what your child's accommodations really mean, a paraprofessional who wants to grow into a more strategic role, a curriculum coordinator trying to build a schoolwide equity framework, or a special educator who wants to connect every strategy back to whole-child outcomes — there is a seat at this table for you.

Come join a community where the whole child is always the center, and where every adult in that child's orbit is equipped, empowered, and ready. Let's build something worthy of every learner we serve.
