If you're a high school student — or the parent of one — you already know the uncomfortable truth: school teaches you to factor polynomials and analyze sonnets, but almost nothing about how to read a pay stub, file taxes, or figure out whether that car loan is actually a good deal. That gap is real, and it has real consequences. Business Math Academy exists to close it.

I built this course because financial math isn't just "useful someday" — it's useful the moment you get your first job, open your first bank account, or sign your first lease. The math isn't hard. What's hard is knowing which math applies, where the numbers come from, and what they mean for your life. That's what every single lesson in this course is designed to teach.

Here's what you're actually going to do over these twelve weeks: you'll calculate your own gross and net pay, walk through a simplified tax return, reconcile a bank statement, build a realistic personal budget, and run the numbers on compound interest scenarios that will permanently change how you think about saving. Then you'll move into the decisions that define financial life — comparing loan costs on a car purchase, understanding what a mortgage actually costs over time, evaluating insurance trade-offs, and mapping out investment growth into retirement. In the business units, you'll see the math from the other side of the counter — pricing, payroll, profit and loss, and financial statements. The capstone project pulls all of it together into a real financial plan that you built.

I want to be honest with you: this course asks you to work. There are quizzes, unit tests, projects, spreadsheet activities, and a final exam. It's credit-level because it's designed to be. But every single assessment is grounded in something real — a scenario you could actually face, a decision you'll actually have to make. I've written every lesson in plain English because jargon is just a way of making simple ideas feel complicated. The ideas here aren't complicated. They just require someone to sit down and actually teach them. That's what I'm here to do.

If you're ready to finally understand how money works — not in a vague, motivational way, but in a "I can do this math right now" way — you're in the right place. Welcome to Business Math Academy. Let's get to work.
