Jenellie Hudson

Hi there — I'm so glad you found your way here.

If you're reading this, chances are you have a child in your life whose reading journey feels a little uncertain right now. Maybe they're just starting out and you're not sure how to teach phonics in a way that actually sticks. Maybe they've been in school for a year or two but something got missed — the decoding isn't smooth, the confidence isn't there, and reading feels like a chore instead of a joy. Or maybe your child is doing fine but you want to make sure every foundational brick is in place before the texts get harder. Wherever you are, I want you to know: you're in exactly the right place, and this is absolutely fixable.

Butterfly Reading was born from a simple belief — that every child can become a confident, joyful reader when the instruction is clear, sequential, and genuinely fun. That means no jumping ahead before the foundation is solid, but also no drilling the same thing over and over without forward momentum. We start where your learner is — whether that's listening for sounds all around us or blending their very first CVC words — and we build from there, one celebratory step at a time. The science of reading tells us exactly what sequence works. We've wrapped that sequence in warmth, play, and real milestone moments so children want to keep going.

Here's what I want you to picture: your child earning their Emerging Reader Wings, pointing proudly at their growth chart, asking when they can do the next lesson. Then cracking the code on a vowel team and lighting up because they figured it out. Then retelling a story to you with all the characters and plot points neatly in order, making inferences you didn't even prompt. Then sitting down independently with a poem or a nonfiction article and reading it — really reading it — with expression and understanding. That journey is what Butterfly Reading maps, step by step, from first sounds all the way to Advanced Reader Wings.

I also know that you — the parent, the homeschool educator, the classroom teacher — need to feel confident too. So every lesson is written in plain, friendly language. You don't need a teaching degree to guide this program. You just need to show up, follow the path, and celebrate loudly and often. I'll take care of the rest.

Come on in. Your reader's wings are waiting. 🦋
