Diagnostic & Personalized Study Roadmap
Students begin by understanding exactly what the CLEP® College Composition exam tests and by completing an AI-powered diagnostic that pinpoints individual strengths and weaknesses across writing clarity, argument structure, grammar, and rhetorical analysis. The output is a personalized study roadmap that removes wasted content and front-loads the skills most likely to move each student's score. This module is the essential prerequisite gateway — no student advances without a completed diagnostic and a confirmed study path.
- 1.1How the CLEP® College Composition Exam Actually WorksIncluded
- 1.2AI Writing Diagnostic AssessmentIncluded
Thesis & Argument Architecture
This module builds the structural foundation every CLEP® essay rests on. Students learn to construct a defensible, specific, college-level thesis and to organize the body of an argument using claims, evidence, warrants, and counterargument — the exact components scored by the CLEP® rubric. Lessons sequence from the sentence level (thesis) outward to full-essay assembly, ensuring each skill is mastered before the next is layered on. The module culminates in a complete timed argumentative essay that integrates every component practiced.
- 2.1Building a CLEP®-Ready Thesis StatementIncluded
- 2.2Structuring a Winning Argument: Claims, Evidence & WarrantsIncluded
- 2.3Counterargument & Concession: Scoring the Extra PointsIncluded
- 2.4Full Argumentative Essay: Timed AssemblyIncluded
Rhetorical Analysis & Source-Based Writing
This module targets the second major essay task on the CLEP® exam: reading and responding to texts. Students first develop the fast-reading strategies needed to identify a source's claims, evidence, and rhetorical moves under timed pressure. They then learn to write a focused rhetorical analysis response, and finally practice synthesizing multiple sources into a coherent position. Each lesson is sequenced so that reading skill precedes writing skill — students cannot write effectively about a text they have not learned to read analytically.
- 3.1Reading Rhetorically: Identify Claims, Evidence & Strategy FastIncluded
- 3.2Writing a Rhetorical Analysis ResponseIncluded
- 3.3Source-Based Writing: Synthesizing Multiple TextsIncluded
Grammar, Mechanics & Sentence Clarity
This module targets the grammar, usage, and mechanics skills directly tested in the CLEP® College Composition multiple-choice section and penalized in the essay holistic scores. Sequenced after argument and rhetorical skills — which carry more scoring weight — but before timed writing system practice, so students enter timed conditions with clean sentence-level habits. Instruction is diagnostic-driven: the AI Weakness Profile from Module 1 determines which grammar topics each student prioritizes. The module closes with an adaptive mastery check that gates advancement.
- 4.1High-Frequency Grammar: What the CLEP® Actually TestsIncluded
- 4.2Sentence Clarity & Concision: Writing That ScoresIncluded
- 4.3Adaptive Grammar Reinforcement & Mastery CheckIncluded
Timed Writing System & Exam Execution
This module converts all prior writing skills into a reliable, repeatable performance system that works under real exam pressure. Students learn and drill the Pass Faster Timed Writing System™ — a structured process for decoding any prompt, outlining efficiently, drafting with momentum, and executing a focused revision pass within strict time limits. Sequenced after all core writing and grammar skills are in place, this module is about integrating and automating those skills under pressure. Students leave with a personal execution routine they can apply on exam day.
- 5.1The Pass Faster Timed Writing System™Included
- 5.2Prompt Decoding: How to Handle Any Prompt the CLEP® Throws At YouIncluded
- 5.3Pressure Practice: Writing Fast Without Falling ApartIncluded
Full-Length Practice Exams & Readiness Certification
Students complete up to three full-length CLEP®-style practice exams under authentic timed conditions, with structured AI feedback and targeted remediation between attempts. Each exam includes both essay tasks and the grammar/mechanics multiple-choice section. Progress through this module is performance-gated: students who meet the readiness score after Exam 1 or Exam 2 may advance to registration readiness immediately. Students below the readiness threshold enter targeted remediation before the next exam attempt. The module concludes with CLEP® registration guidance and a final Readiness Certification.
- 6.1Practice Exam One: Baseline PerformanceIncluded
- 6.2Targeted Remediation Between ExamsIncluded
- 6.3Practice Exam Two & Advanced FeedbackIncluded
- 6.4Practice Exam Three & CLEP® Registration ReadinessIncluded

A note from your teacher
Leigh Baumann
If you're reading this, you've probably already done the math. A semester of English composition costs time you don't have, money you'd rather not spend, and weeks of your life sitting through material you may already know. There has to be a faster path to those credits — and there is. But most people waste it by studying the wrong things.
Here's the problem with how most people prep for the CLEP® College Composition exam: they treat it like a writing class. They read style guides. They review every grammar rule they can find. They write practice essays without any real feedback system. And then they walk into the testing center and find out that the exam is a precise, timed performance task — not a general writing showcase. The skills they drilled didn't match the skills the test actually measures.
I built Pass Faster AI to fix that. This system starts where every good coaching relationship starts: finding out exactly where you are. The AI diagnostic assessment at the beginning of the course isn't a formality. It's the foundation of everything that follows. Your personalized study roadmap is built from those results, which means you spend zero time on what you've already mastered and all your time on what actually stands between you and a passing score.
From there, you'll work through a tightly sequenced curriculum that mirrors the exam's own priorities — thesis and argument architecture first, then rhetorical analysis and source-based writing, then grammar and mechanics (only the patterns the CLEP® actually tests), and finally the timed writing system that ties it all together. Three full-length practice exams close the loop, with targeted remediation built in between each one so your score moves in the right direction every time.
This isn't a course that respects your time in theory. It respects your time in practice — in every lesson, every module, every adaptive drill. You're here to pass. Let's get to work.
