Maybe you've read Colossians before. Maybe you've even preached or taught from it. But if you're honest, there's a nagging sense that you've been working from the highlights — the Christ Hymn here, a "put off / put on" list there — without ever sitting with the whole letter long enough for it to do its full work on you.

I know that feeling. It's exactly why I wanted to build this study.

Colossians is one of the most compressed, carefully argued letters in the New Testament. Paul is writing to a church he's never personally visited, on behalf of a co-worker named Epaphras, to address a theological crisis that threatened to quietly hollow out the gospel — not by rejecting Jesus, but by making him insufficient. Sound familiar? The forms change, but the pressure to add something to Christ — a spiritual experience, a ritual practice, an esoteric insight, a works-based threshold — never really goes away. Paul's answer is a concentrated, almost overwhelming declaration of Christ's supremacy and sufficiency. And then, because Paul is Paul, he lands that theology directly in your household.

What I've tried to build here is a study that is honest about the text — including the parts that make modern readers uncomfortable — and that never lets theological precision become an escape hatch from practical application. We'll do real exegesis. We'll look at the Greek when it matters. We'll wrestle with the "household codes" in chapters 3 and 4 without flinching or over-explaining them. And we'll keep asking the same question throughout: so what does this mean for how I actually live?

The final section of this study is the one I'm most personally invested in. I believe that good Bible study should not end with information — it should end with formation. So we'll work through building a personal rule of life from Colossians 3, designing a devotional plan you'll actually sustain, and equipping you to lead others through this material with confidence and humility. You don't need a seminary degree to do this well. You need a willingness to sit with the text, take it seriously, and let it speak.

Colossians is four chapters. Studied well, it's a lifetime. I'd love to walk through it with you.
