Welcome to Confident Math Academy: Becoming Your Child's Math Coach
This foundational module prepares parents and caregivers to step confidently into the role of math coach. It addresses math anxiety head-on, demystifies how modern math is taught, and equips families with the tools, mindset, and navigational know-how to get the most out of every grade-level module. Completing this module first is essential — it establishes the coaching lens through which all subsequent content is best experienced.
- 1.1From Math-Anxious to Math-Confident: A Parent's Mindset ResetIncluded
- 1.2How Kids Learn Math Today: Understanding Modern Math MethodsIncluded
- 1.3How to Use This Academy: Navigating Grade Levels, Resources, and the Homework Help FeatureIncluded
- 1.4Understanding Progress Checks and Mastery: How to Know When Your Child Is Ready to Move OnIncluded
Kindergarten Math Coaching: Building the Foundation That Everything Else Stands On
Kindergarten is where mathematical thinking is born. This module coaches parents through every foundational concept their Kindergartener needs — from counting and recognizing numbers all the way through early addition, subtraction, number bonds, and beginning place value. Every lesson uses household items, picture books, and playful activities so that math feels like an adventure, not a chore. Parents learn exactly how to spot early misconceptions and gently redirect before they become habits.
- 2.1Counting, Number Recognition, and One-to-One CorrespondenceIncluded
- 2.2Comparing Numbers, Sorting, and PatternsIncluded
- 2.3Shapes, Measurement, and Time BasicsIncluded
- 2.4Coins, Addition Within 10, Subtraction Within 10, Number Bonds, and Place Value FoundationsIncluded
First & Second Grade Math Coaching: Building Number Power to 1,000
This combined module covers the critical expansion of number understanding from 20 all the way to 1,000. First graders build fact fluency, deepen place value thinking to 120, learn to tell time and handle money, and explore basic geometry. Second graders tackle three-digit addition and subtraction with regrouping, discover the early roots of multiplication through arrays and equal groups, meet fractions for the first time, and read and create graphs. Throughout, parents learn the precise questioning techniques and visual models that make abstract numbers concrete and manageable.
- 3.1Addition and Subtraction to 20 and Fact Fluency (1st Grade)Included
- 3.2Place Value to 120, Skip Counting, and Comparing Numbers (1st Grade)Included
- 3.3Telling Time, Money, Measurement, and Graphing for Grades 1–2Included
- 3.4Addition and Subtraction to 1,000 with Regrouping (2nd Grade)Included
- 3.5Arrays, Equal Groups, Fractions Foundations, and Graphs (2nd Grade)Included
Third Grade Math Coaching: Multiplication, Division, Fractions, and Measurement
Third grade is a true turning point in elementary mathematics — multiplication and division are the gatekeepers to all upper-grade math, and fractions take on real meaning for the first time. This module gives parents both the conceptual foundation and the practical coaching strategies to guide their child through what is often called 'the hardest year of elementary math.' Word problems, area, perimeter, and measurement are woven throughout so parents see how these operations live in real contexts. Progress checks and mastery quizzes are clearly referenced for each lesson.
- 4.1Multiplication Concepts and StrategiesIncluded
- 4.2Division Concepts, Strategies, and Fact FamiliesIncluded
- 4.3Fractions: Meaning, Models, and ComparingIncluded
- 4.4Area, Perimeter, Measurement, and Word ProblemsIncluded
Fourth Grade Math Coaching: Multi-Digit Operations, Fractions, Decimals, and Geometry
Fourth grade is where arithmetic reaches its full complexity and fractions become a serious focus for the first time. Parents learn to coach multi-digit multiplication and long division with clarity and multiple strategies, guide children through fraction and mixed number operations, and introduce decimals as an extension of the place value system — not a new topic. Geometry expands to angles and classification of shapes. A dedicated word-problem coaching lesson equips parents with a replicable protocol for the multi-step problems that define 4th-grade assessment.
- 5.1Multi-Digit Multiplication and Long DivisionIncluded
- 5.2Fractions and Mixed Numbers: Adding, Subtracting, and ComparingIncluded
- 5.3Decimals: Understanding, Comparing, and Connecting to FractionsIncluded
- 5.4Factors, Multiples, Angles, and GeometryIncluded
- 5.5Multi-Step Word Problems: A Coaching Protocol for 4th GradeIncluded
Fifth Grade Math Coaching: Fractions, Decimals, Algebra Readiness, and Data
Fifth grade is the capstone of elementary mathematics and the launching pad for middle school. Parents learn to coach their child through fraction multiplication and division (the most challenging fraction work yet), all four decimal operations, the beginnings of algebraic thinking, coordinate planes, volume, geometry, data analysis, and percent basics — the latter added to close a critical gap in the draft curriculum. Each lesson explicitly connects to middle-school math, helping parents see the bigger picture and coach with confidence even when the content feels new. The module closes with a genuine Mastery Celebration and a bridge to middle school.
- 6.1Multiplying and Dividing FractionsIncluded
- 6.2Decimal Operations: All Four OperationsIncluded
- 6.3Numerical Expressions, Algebraic Thinking, and the Coordinate PlaneIncluded
- 6.4Volume, Geometry, Measurement Conversions, and Percent BasicsIncluded
- 6.5Data Analysis, Multi-Step Problem Solving, and Mastery CelebrationIncluded

A note from your teacher
confidentreadersacademy
If you've ever sat down at the kitchen table to help with math homework and felt that little knot of dread in your stomach — you are not alone, and there is nothing wrong with you. So many caring, smart, involved parents feel exactly the same way. Math looks different than it did when we were kids, the methods feel unfamiliar, and the last thing you want is to accidentally make things more confusing for your child. I get it completely.
I created Confident Math Academy because I kept seeing the same thing: parents who deeply wanted to support their kids but felt shut out of the process. Not because they weren't capable — but because nobody had ever explained elementary math to them, from the perspective of someone who actually needs to help a seven-year-old understand it at 7 p.m. on a Tuesday. That's exactly what this academy does.
Here's what you'll find inside: a full K–5 coaching roadmap that walks you through every concept your child will encounter in elementary school — counting and number bonds in Kindergarten, place value and regrouping in 1st and 2nd grade, multiplication and fractions in 3rd, multi-digit operations and decimals in 4th, and fraction operations, algebraic thinking, and data in 5th. Each topic is explained in plain language, paired with visual models and hands-on activities you can run with things already in your home. And whenever homework panic strikes, the built-in Homework Help feature gives you the exact coaching language to use in the moment.
One of the most important things you'll learn is the difference between giving your child an answer and coaching them to find it. That shift alone changes everything — for their confidence and for yours. You'll also learn to spot the small, common mistakes that quietly become habits, and you'll have a clear system for knowing when your child has truly mastered a skill and when they need a bit more practice before moving on.
I want to be honest with you: this isn't a program that promises overnight miracles. What it does promise is a clear path, a warm guide at your side, and the steady "you've got this" energy that every parent doing this hard, loving work deserves. You showed up for your child by being here. Let's take the next step together — come on in.
