Know What You're Really Selling
Before building anything, creatives must get radically clear on what they offer, who they serve, and why someone would pay for it. This foundational module dismantles the confusion between 'making things' and 'running a business,' and establishes the strategic base every other module builds on.
- 1.1The Creative Value AuditIncluded
- 1.2Choosing Your Business ModelIncluded
- 1.3Defining Your Ideal Paying CustomerIncluded
Packaging & Pricing Your Work
Having identified what they sell and who they sell it to, students now learn how to structure their work into clear, compelling offers and price those offers with confidence. This module bridges strategy and commerce, turning vague creative capabilities into products and services people can actually buy.
- 2.1Turning Skills Into OffersIncluded
- 2.2Pricing Frameworks for CreativesIncluded
- 2.3Productizing Creative WorkIncluded
Building Multiple Income Streams
With a core offer and pricing strategy in place, students now design a diversified income portfolio. This module teaches creatives how to layer complementary revenue streams — active and passive, individual and scalable — so their income is resilient and has genuine growth potential.
- 3.1Mapping Your Income PortfolioIncluded
- 3.2Licensing & Royalties for CreativesIncluded
- 3.3Memberships, Subscriptions & Recurring RevenueIncluded
- 3.4Brand Deals, Collaborations & Sponsored WorkIncluded
Pitching, Proposals & Winning Work
Revenue only materialises when creatives can successfully communicate their value and close opportunities. This module gives students a complete, repeatable system for winning client work, collaborations, and brand deals — covering everything from the first conversation to a signed contract.
- 4.1The Anatomy of a Winning PitchIncluded
- 4.2Writing Proposals That CloseIncluded
- 4.3Contracts, Scope & Protecting Your WorkIncluded
Building an Audience That Buys
Sustainable creative businesses don't rely solely on cold outreach or referrals — they build owned audiences that generate inbound demand. This module teaches students how to position themselves clearly, create content that builds real trust, grow an email list, and sell in a way that feels natural rather than pushy.
- 5.1Positioning Yourself in a Noisy MarketIncluded
- 5.2Content That Builds Trust and Drives SalesIncluded
- 5.3Email Lists and Owned AudiencesIncluded
- 5.4Selling Without Feeling SalesyIncluded
Financial Planning for a Creative Business
The final module transforms creative income into a managed, growing business. Students build the financial literacy and practical systems they need to understand their numbers, plan for taxes, track revenue confidently, and set targets that move them toward real financial independence.
- 6.1Understanding Your Creative Business NumbersIncluded
- 6.2Building a Simple Revenue Tracking SystemIncluded
- 6.3Taxes, Rates & Getting Paid What You're OwedIncluded
- 6.4Setting Growth Targets and a 12-Month Revenue PlanIncluded

Duke Wright
Hey — if you've landed here, I'm guessing you're somewhere I've seen a lot of talented people get stuck: you're good at what you do, maybe even really good, and yet the business side of things feels like a foreign language nobody ever offered to teach you.
You didn't go to art school (or music school, or just teach yourself everything you know) to become an accountant or a marketer. But at some point you realized that talent alone doesn't pay the rent, and the advice out there for creatives is either way too vague ("build your brand!") or built for tech startups that have nothing to do with your world. So you keep winging it — undercharging here, overworking there, picking up clients you don't love because saying no still feels scary.
That's the problem Creative Business Lab was built to solve. Not with hustle-culture motivation or generic business frameworks slapped onto creative work — but with strategies that actually make sense for the way you work and the value you create. We start at the beginning: figuring out what you're truly selling and who will genuinely pay for it. Then we build up — packaging your skills into real offers, pricing them in a way you can stand behind, stacking income streams that work together, and writing pitches that win the rooms (and inboxes) that matter.
By the time you hit Module 6, you won't just have a clearer creative business — you'll have a 12-month revenue plan and a simple system for tracking whether you're hitting it. That's the part most creatives never get to, and it's often the part that changes everything.
I built this lab because I believe creative work deserves to be well-compensated, and I believe you deserve to feel as confident talking about money as you do talking about your work. You don't have to sell out to sell well. Come build something real.
