BANK Personality Codes Explained: Which of the 4 Types Are You?
DMDionne Malush · August 11, 2026 · 4 min read

I've sat across from people who make every decision the same way I do — and people who make decisions in a way that used to completely baffle me. The same opportunity, the same information, two totally different responses. For a long time I thought that was just "personality." Then I got introduced to the BANK methodology, and the fog lifted.
BANK stands for Blueprint, Action, Nurturing, and Knowledge. Every person leads with one of these four codes — and once you know yours, you start seeing why you tick the way you do. Better yet, you start understanding the people around you in a way that changes everything: conversations, relationships, sales, leadership, parenting, all of it.
Let's walk through each one. See yourself. See the people in your life.
Blueprint: The Value-Driven Visionary
Blueprint personalities are driven by systems, structure, and standards. They want to know the rules, honor the right process, and leave things better than they found them. They're the person who actually reads the manual — and notices when something is out of alignment.
At their best, Blueprints are principled, loyal, and incredibly dependable. They don't cut corners. They care deeply about integrity and doing things the right way.
Sound like you? You might be a Blueprint if:
- You need to trust someone before you commit to anything
- You have strong values that are non-negotiable
- You tend to take your time with decisions because doing it right matters more than doing it fast
What to watch: Blueprints can get stuck in perfectionism or feel paralyzed when the "right" answer isn't clear.
Action: The Bold, Results-First Driver
Action personalities are wired for speed, results, and winning. They make fast decisions, chase big rewards, and have zero patience for anything that feels like wasted time. They're the person who skips the tutorial and just starts playing the game.
At their best, Actions are magnetic, courageous, and wildly effective at getting things done. They don't overthink. They move.
You might be an Action if:
- You decide fast and adjust as you go
- You love competition — and you love to win
- Long explanations lose you; you want the bottom line now
What to watch: Actions can steamroll others or burn out from chasing too many shiny objects at once.
Nurturing: The Heart-Centered Connector
Nurturing personalities are motivated by people, purpose, and contribution. They want to know that what they're doing matters — to their family, their community, the world. They're the person who remembers your birthday, checks in after a hard week, and somehow makes every room feel warmer.
At their best, Nurturings are empathetic, collaborative, and deeply trustworthy. They build communities and relationships that last for decades.
You might be a Nurturing if:
- You make decisions based on how they'll affect the people you love
- The "why" behind something matters as much as the "what"
- You'd rather work together than compete
What to watch: Nurturings can over-give, struggle with boundaries, or say yes when they mean no.
Knowledge: The Detail-Obsessed Expert
Knowledge personalities run on data, proof, and logic. They want the research, the case study, the fine print. They're the person who compares seventeen options before choosing a blender — and genuinely enjoys the process.
At their best, Knowledges are precise, credible, and deeply analytical. They catch what everyone else misses and they rarely make decisions they regret.
You might be a Knowledge if:
- You don't trust claims without evidence
- You love learning for its own sake
- You'd rather be right than be first
What to watch: Knowledges can fall into analysis paralysis or come across as detached when they're actually very engaged internally.
So Why Does Your Code Matter?
Here's what I find most powerful about BANK: it doesn't box you in. It frees you.
When you know your code, you stop wondering why certain conversations energize you and others drain you. You stop taking it personally when someone makes a completely different decision than you would. You start communicating in a way that actually lands — because you understand that your Blueprint colleague needs trust before commitment, your Action client needs the big win front-loaded, your Nurturing friend needs to know the people are taken care of, and your Knowledge partner needs the data before they can say yes.
This is the science I weave into my Think, Grow & Influence program — pairing Napoleon Hill's timeless principles with the precision of BANK so that self-awareness becomes a genuine advantage, not just a personality quiz you take and forget.
Your Next Step
Identify your code. Not the one you wish you were — the one that actually drives your decisions when no one is watching. Sit with each description above and notice where you feel recognized rather than described.
Then pay attention this week. Watch how the people around you are wired. Every friction point in a relationship is often just two codes speaking different languages.
Knowing yours is where it starts.
