If you have ever stared at a History past paper and felt your mind go completely blank — or watched your child do the same — I want you to know that is not a sign you are bad at History. It is a sign that nobody has shown you how History actually works yet.

That is exactly why I built Singapore History Unlocked.

Elective History under Syllabus 2261 is one of the most rewarding subjects in the O-Level cohort — it teaches you to think critically, weigh evidence, spot bias, and construct a real argument. Those are skills that matter long after the exam is over. But the syllabus is also genuinely demanding. It spans two full years, covers everything from the trenches of World War I to the founding of ASEAN, and asks you to master two very different exam formats — the Source-Based Case Study and the Structured Essay Question — each with their own logic and their own mark-scheme traps. Most students I have spoken to feel underprepared for at least one of those, and many feel underprepared for both.

My approach is simple: make the story come alive first, then build the exam skills on top of that. When you understand why the Great Depression destabilised democracies and empowered dictators, Hitler's rise stops being a list of facts to memorise and becomes something you can analyse, compare, and argue about — which is exactly what the SEQ asks you to do. When you see how a 1945 propaganda poster was designed to persuade a specific audience, evaluating sources for bias and utility stops feeling like guesswork and starts feeling logical. Every lesson in this course is built around that principle: context first, exam craft second, confidence as the outcome.

I also know that Secondary 3 and 4 students are busy. That is why every lesson fits into around 30 minutes, uses a mix of video, audio, posters, and clear visual notes, and is structured so you can come back to any topic the moment you need it — whether you are revising the Cold War the week before your prelims or working through the Fall of Singapore for the first time. Parents and tutors, you are warmly welcome here too. This course will give you the full map of what your student needs to know and be able to do, so you can support them with real clarity.

The exam is not the enemy. With the right roadmap, it is simply the moment you show what you already know. I would love to help you get there — come join us.
