If you're reading this, there's a good chance Literature feels like the one subject on your child's timetable that's hardest to pin down. You can't just memorise your way through it. You can't Google the "right answer." And the exam asks students to walk into a hall, face a poem they've never read, and write something brilliant about it in half an hour. I get why that's stressful — for students and for the parents and tutors supporting them.
I built O-Level Lit Lab because I believe that feeling of "I don't know what the examiner wants" is almost always fixable — and the fix is structured, deliberate practice that's matched to the actual syllabus. Not vague appreciation of literature, not random essay practice, but a clear, step-by-step system that takes students from "I'm not a lit person" to writing analytical paragraphs that genuinely earn marks. Every lesson in this school is anchored to what SEAB rewards: close reading, precise use of literary terminology, well-structured arguments, and timed exam confidence.
What I love about teaching EL Lit is that the texts are genuinely worth caring about. To Kill a Mockingbird is about moral courage in the face of a whole town's indifference — that's not a small thing. The Chrysalids asks what happens when a society is so afraid of difference that it destroys the people it should protect. The stories in How We Live Now speak directly to Singaporean experiences of identity, family, and change. When students connect with what they're reading, the analysis follows. My job is to make that connection happen, and then to channel it into exam-ready writing.
Here's the thing I want you to know: no student is "just not a lit person." That's a story some students tell themselves because no one has shown them the right entry point yet. O-Level Lit Lab is that entry point — warm, clear, and built to make every lesson feel like thirty minutes well spent. I'm really glad you're here. Let's get to work.
