A note from your teacher
Farrin Pasifakis
If you've ever brewed a cup of ginger tea for a queasy stomach or dabbed honey on a cut and wondered, "does this actually work?" — you're already thinking like an herbalist. You just don't have the full picture yet. And that's exactly why I created Homemade Herbals.
I know what it feels like to be drawn to natural remedies but not quite trust yourself with them. To wonder whether the turmeric latte is ancient wisdom or modern marketing. To want something gentler for your family's everyday health, but also not want to be reckless about it. That uncertainty is real, and it deserves a real answer — not a recipe blog, not a miracle-cure sales pitch, but an honest, grounded education in what plants can and can't do, and how to use them safely and skillfully.
This school is what I wish I'd had at the beginning: a structured journey that starts with history and science — because knowing why chamomile calms or how thyme clears a chest makes you so much more confident than just following someone else's instructions. From there, we get our hands into it together: brewing targeted teas, making your first tincture in a mason jar, crafting a beeswax calendula balm, putting together a natural face cream. Every technique builds on the last, and every lesson is anchored in safety-first, evidence-informed practice.
I want to be clear about something: I am not teaching you to replace medicine. I am teaching you to become a more capable, informed person who knows how to care for everyday ailments thoughtfully, recognise their limits, and work alongside conventional healthcare rather than against it. That nuance matters enormously to me — and it's built into every corner of this curriculum.
By the time you've worked through everything here, you'll have a personalised home apothecary stocked with remedies you understand, trust, and made yourself. You'll know the story behind every ingredient on your shelf. And you'll have the judgment to use them wisely. That's not a small thing. Come learn with me.
