  • Analyse and evaluate chemical phenomena through at least four distinct MYP global contexts (e.g., Globalisation & Sustainability; Scientific & Technical Innovation), making genuine connections between chemistry and the wider world.
  • Produce criterion-referenced work that maps directly to MYP Assessment Criteria A (Knowing & Understanding), B (Inquiring & Designing), C (Processing & Evaluating), and D (Reflecting on the Impact of Science).
  • Develop and articulate explicit Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills — including scientific literacy, critical thinking, and self-management — within every unit of study.
  • Construct clear, accurate scientific communication in a range of formats: lab reports, structured essays, data commentary, and multimodal presentations.
  • Build the conceptual vocabulary and transferable reasoning habits needed for a confident transition into IB Diploma Programme (DP) Chemistry.
  • Reflect critically on the ethical, environmental, and societal dimensions of chemical science, forming and defending evidence-based personal positions.

Hi, I'm so glad you're here. I've spent years working within the IB Middle Years Programme — first as a classroom chemistry teacher, then as a curriculum designer — and in that time I noticed the same gap again and again: students who understood what to study for MYP Chemistry, but not why it was structured the way it was, or how to actually think like a scientist within it. This course is my answer to that gap.
