IELTS Speaking Band 7+ Masterclass
A former IELTS examiner reveals exactly what raters listen for — and trains you to deliver it confidently across all three parts of the Speaking test to hit Band 7.0 and beyond.
Perfect for: This course is designed for non-native English speakers currently performing at approximately Band 5.5–6.5 who need to achieve Band 7.0 or higher for university admission, professional registration, career advancement, or immigration purposes. It is ideal for candidates who already have an intermediate or upper-intermediate level of English but struggle to improve their speaking score because they: give short or repetitive answers; run out of ideas during the test; rely too heavily on memorized responses; lack confidence when speaking; do not fully understand what examiners are actually assessing; want a structured, step-by-step self-study system instead of random tips and tricks. This course is suitable for both Academic and General Training candidates. Although highly motivated Band 5 candidates can benefit from the foundation lessons, it is not intended for complete beginners.

Stop Guessing What Examiners Want — Learn It From One of Them
Most IELTS candidates lose marks not because their English is weak, but because they don't understand how the test is actually scored. The four Band Descriptors — Fluency & Coherence, Lexical Resource, Grammatical Range & Accuracy, and Pronunciation — are a precise marking framework, and every word that comes out of your mouth is evaluated against it. This course strips that framework apart and rebuilds your speaking around it.
What Makes This Course Different
This isn't a collection of sample answers to memorise. As a former IELTS examiner and speaking coach, I've sat on the other side of the table and marked thousands of candidates. I know the exact moments an examiner's pen moves — and in which direction. Every lesson in this course is designed around those moments: the fillers that kill your Fluency score, the "safe" vocabulary that caps you at Band 6, the grammar structures that signal a Band 8 mind, and the pronunciation features that matter far more than a native accent.
What You'll Walk Away With
By the end of this course you will have a repeatable, examiner-aware system for tackling every question type in Parts 1, 2, and 3. You'll have a personalised vocabulary bank built from high-frequency IELTS topics, a set of go-to grammatical structures that demonstrate range without sounding robotic, and the self-monitoring skills to keep improving long after the course ends. Whether your test is in two weeks or two months, this course meets you where you are and takes you to Band 7+.

John
Hello, and welcome. I'm your instructor—an experienced IELTS Speaking coach and former certified IELTS examiner. During my examining career, I assessed thousands of candidates ranging from Band 3 to Band 9, and one thing became very clear: Most candidates who fail to reach Band 7 are not limited by their English ability. They simply do not understand what examiners are actually listening for. Many learners spend months memorizing model answers, collecting vocabulary lists, and watching countless YouTube videos, only to remain stuck at Band 6 or 6.5. The reason is simple: nobody has shown them what distinguishes a Band 7 performance from a Band 6 one. That's exactly why I created this course. Everything you will learn here is based on my experience sitting on the other side of the table. I've taken the official marking criteria, the most common Band 6 weaknesses, and the characteristics of high-scoring candidates and transformed them into a practical, step-by-step training system that you can follow at your own pace. This course is not about memorising answers or trying to sound overly academic. It is about learning how to communicate clearly, naturally, and confidently. By the end of this course, you will understand not only what to say, but also how to think, organise ideas, and speak in ways that examiners reward. My goal is simple: To help you walk into the test room with confidence, a clear strategy, and the skills required to achieve Band 7.0 and beyond.
