Who it's for

Is this you?

The N2 graduate ready to level up

You've got N2 in the bag and a clear career goal in Japan — this is the structured, no-fluff path to the credential that gets you there.

The professional targeting a Japanese employer

You're applying to Japanese companies or organisations abroad and know that N1 on your résumé changes the conversation entirely.

The self-taught learner with gaps

Your Japanese is strong in some areas and patchy in others — the diagnostic-led approach finds exactly where to focus so you're not grinding what you already know.

The heritage speaker aiming to formalise

You can hold your own in conversation but formal written Japanese and exam-style questions are a different world — this course bridges that gap precisely.

The busy adult learner short on time

With work and life filling the calendar, you need bite-sized lessons and a personalised plan that respects your time and still gets you exam-ready.

The Japan-bound graduate student

You're heading to a Japanese university or research institution and need N1 fluency in academic reading and listening — not just a pass, but real comprehension.

Let me guess where you are right now.

You passed N2 — or you know you're solidly at that level — and you've been circling N1 for a while. Maybe you've downloaded vocabulary lists, bookmarked grammar pages, started a couple of practice tests and quietly closed them. N1 feels enormous, and it is. But that's not the real problem. The real problem is that most study resources treat N1 like it's just 'more N2' — longer lists, more patterns, repeat until exam day. That approach works fine until it doesn't, and it tends not to work for N1.

I built this course because I've been exactly where you are, and I know what actually moves the needle. The gap between N2 and N1 isn't really about volume — it's about depth. It's about knowing that 以上 and 上は carry different weight in a formal sentence. It's about reading a literary passage that leans on classical grammar and not panicking. It's about sitting in a listening section while a professor talks at full speed about economic policy and still catching the one detail the question is actually asking about. These are learnable skills. They require the right framework, not just more hours staring at flashcards.

So here's what I've built instead. We start with diagnostics — real ones — that tell you exactly which parts of your N2 foundation are solid and which need shoring up before you build on them. From there, the course moves through kanji (organised by real-world domains, not arbitrary frequency lists), vocabulary (with serious attention to nuance and register, because N1 punishes close-but-not-quite word choices), grammar (every major pattern you'll see, grounded in examples before rules, always), and then full mastery tracks for reading and listening that mirror exactly how the N1 is constructed. Two complete mock exams with detailed debriefs close things out, so you go into the real test having already done this before — under pressure, on the clock.

I want to be honest with you: this course asks something of you. 240 hours is a genuine commitment, and N1 is a genuinely hard exam. But it's also one of the most career-opening qualifications you can hold if Japan is part of your professional future. If you're aiming to work in Japan, join a Japanese company, or engage professionally with Japanese organisations, N1 isn't optional — it's the credential that opens the door. This course is built to get you through it, and then point you at what's on the other side.

I'll see you in the first lesson. Let's find out where you actually stand — and go from there.
