Baptism: The Moment Your Spiritual Eyes Open

Everything starts here. This module examines what actually happens at baptism — not just as a ritual, but as a spiritual threshold. Students discover why the world looks different after baptism, what the Holy Spirit's arrival means practically, and how to make sense of the 'mess' they now see clearly for the first time.

  • 1.1Before and After: What Baptism Actually ChangesIncluded
  • 1.2The Spirit Moves In: Understanding Your New ResidentIncluded
  • 1.3Spiritual Eyes in a Messy World: Why Clarity Hurts FirstIncluded
2

Learning the Spirit's Voice: Guidance, Warnings, and Promptings

The Holy Spirit guides, warns, advises, and leads — but learning to distinguish His voice from our own thoughts, fears, and desires is a lifelong skill. This module gives students a practical, Scripture-grounded framework for recognizing and responding to the Spirit's communications in real, daily life.

  • 2.1How the Spirit Speaks: Recognizing the ChannelsIncluded
  • 2.2When the Spirit Warns: Paying Attention to the Red FlagsIncluded

You in the Body: Your Unique Place in Christ

The Spirit does not create clones — He creates a Body of unique, irreplaceable members. This module helps students shed the comparison trap and the feeling of being unnecessary, and instead locate themselves clearly within the Body of Christ with purpose, dignity, and specific contribution.

  • 3.2Comparison, Envy, and the Lie That You're Not EnoughIncluded
  • 3.3When the Body Is Broken: Staying Faithful in an Imperfect ChurchIncluded

Brothers and Sisters: Living as Genuine Spiritual Family

The church is not a club, a network, or a service to attend — it is a family. This module takes that metaphor seriously, examining what authentic spiritual kinship demands: honesty, forgiveness, presence through difficulty, and the willingness to be known. Students practice the specific habits that turn fellow churchgoers into true brothers and sisters.

  • 4.1More Than Neighbors: What Spiritual Family Actually RequiresIncluded
  • 4.2Honesty, Vulnerability, and the Risk of Being KnownIncluded
  • 4.3Navigating Difference: Unity Does Not Mean UniformityIncluded

United in Spirit: The Church as the Living Body of Christ

This module zooms out to the big picture — the church not as an institution but as a living organism animated by one Spirit, carrying one mission, across every difference of personality, culture, and background. Students develop a high, joyful, and realistic theology of the church that sustains their commitment for the long haul.

  • 5.1One Spirit, Many Members: The Miracle of Church UnityIncluded
  • 5.2Carrying the Legacy: Passing Faith to the Next GenerationIncluded
  • 5.3Staying Power: Building a Life That Endures in the SpiritIncluded

David Clilverd

David Clilverd

Maybe you remember the day — or the season — when something shifted. When the waters of baptism, or a moment of genuine surrender, opened something in you that you could not quite name yet. A new awareness. A longing for something real. And then you looked around at the Church, at your fellow brothers and sisters, and thought: this is messier than I expected.

I know that feeling. I've lived it. I've sat in pews beside people I struggled to understand, prayed alongside people whose theology made me wince, and wondered whether "united in the Spirit" was a promise or just a nice idea. I've also experienced the breathtaking grace of what happens when a community truly surrenders to that Spirit — when someone is warned just in time, guided through an impossible decision, or comforted by a word spoken from across a room by someone who "just felt led."

That is why I wrote Brothers, Sisters, and the Living Church — and why I built this school around its core convictions. Not to give you a tidy theological system. But to help you see what is already true: that your baptism was a door, not a destination. That the Spirit is not a distant force but a present guide — one who leads, counsels, warns, and unites. And that every person sitting beside you on Sunday, however different from you, carries a piece of the image of God that you need.

This school is not a lecture. It is an invitation. An invitation to open your spiritual eyes wider, to lean into the family you have been placed in, and to trust the One who holds it all together. You don't need to have it figured out. You just need to show up.

Come as you are. The Living Church is already gathering.
