Learn to love across every line that divides us
A warm, soul-deep school for anyone exhausted by division — grounding you in the science of our shared humanity, the wisdom of history's great peacemakers, and practical daily habits that turn inner conviction into outer change.

I believe the most radical act available to any of us right now is to love someone we were told we had nothing in common with — and I built this entire school to help you do exactly that.— David Clilverd

What you'll learn
What you'll be able to do
- Articulate a coherent theology of radical human equality rooted in shared spirit, baptism, and the image of God present in every person regardless of race, sex, or nationality.
- Trace the historical distortions — racial, political, and institutional — that divided the Church from its own founding message of unity, and name them clearly without bitterness.
- Apply the peacemaking wisdom of figures like Martin Luther King Jr. and John Lennon to concrete, everyday choices about how you speak, act, and treat others.
- Understand the biological and geographic roots of human skin colour as inherited melanin variation, dismantling race as a spiritual or moral category once and for all.
- Develop a personal, living spirituality centred on the 'altar of the heart' — kindness, encounter, and conscience — rather than institution, ritual, or stone building.
- Practise daily habits of cross-cultural empathy and nonviolent love that contribute, one relationship at a time, to the possibility of peace on earth.

One Human Family — The Science and Spirit of Who We Are
This foundational module establishes the biological and theological bedrock of the entire curriculum. Before students can engage with distortion, prophets, or practice, they must first understand what is true: that humanity is one family, differentiated only by inherited geography, and united by a shared spiritual identity. Science and spirit are presented as allies, not rivals, in this opening case for radical equality.
- 1.1Melanin, Migration, and the Myth of RaceIncluded
- 1.2The Real Jesus — Palestinian, Brown, and Unrecognised in a CrowdIncluded
- 1.3Baptised into One Name — Shared Identity Beyond Every BorderIncluded
The Long Distortion — How Division Entered the House of Love
With the foundation of unity firmly established, this module honestly confronts the painful historical record: the ways in which the institutional Church, political power, and cultural imagery have systematically betrayed the founding message of unity they were entrusted to carry. This is not taught with bitterness but with clarity, because students cannot heal what they cannot name. The module ends on a note of reclamation — the distortion does not win, because the living Church was never the building.
- 2.1When the Church Chose Apartheid Over the GospelIncluded
- 2.2Sacred Art, Power, and the Images We InheritIncluded
- 2.3Stone Buildings Are Not the Church — Reclaiming the Living BodyIncluded
Prophets of Peace — King, Lennon, and the Dreamers Among Us
Having established the theological foundation (Module 1) and honestly named the distortions (Module 2), students are now ready to meet the prophets — those who, in the face of division, chose to dream and act differently. This module studies Martin Luther King Jr., John Lennon, and ordinary unsung peacemakers as practical models, not just inspirational figures. The emphasis throughout is on translating vision into concrete, daily choices — the bridge between inner conviction and outer practice that culminates in Module 5.
- 3.1I Have a Dream — King's Vision as a Practical RoadmapIncluded
- 3.2Imagine — Poetry, Music, and the Prophetic ImaginationIncluded
- 3.3Ordinary Prophets — Peacemakers Who Were Never FamousIncluded
The Altar of the Heart — A Living, Personal Spirituality
This module moves the curriculum inward. Having examined the world (Module 1), the institution (Module 2), and the prophets (Module 3), students now turn to their own interior life and personal faith. The module develops the curriculum's distinctive theology of encounter — baptism, confirmation, the born-again moment, the co-existence of the human and divine 'I Am' — in a way that is personal and experiential rather than doctrinal and institutional. The goal is not to produce a particular religious affiliation but a living, examined, heart-centred spirituality in every student.
- 4.1Encounter, Transformation, and the Born-Again MomentIncluded
- 4.2The Altar of the Heart — Kindness as the Highest LiturgyIncluded
- 4.3Saints and Sinners — A Spirituality Without HierarchyIncluded
Peace on Earth — From Inner Conviction to Outer Practice
The final module is where everything lands in daily life. Students move from theology, history, prophecy, and personal spirituality into concrete, practised habits of peacemaking. The module is deliberately practical without being superficial — the practices taught here are rooted in everything that has come before, so they carry genuine weight. The goal is that every student leaves with not just a vision of peace on earth but a personal, specific, lived contribution to it, beginning today and built one relationship at a time.
- 5.1Nonviolent Communication — Speaking Peace Into Ordinary ConflictIncluded
- 5.2Cross-Cultural Empathy — Practising the Other's PerspectiveIncluded
- 5.3Your Peace Practice — Building a Life That ContributesIncluded

A note from your teacher
David Clilverd
If you're here, I think I know something about where you've been.
Maybe you grew up inside a faith tradition that gave you real gifts — community, meaning, a sense of the sacred — but that also drew lines you could never quite make peace with. Lines between races, between believers and outsiders, between the worthy and the unworthy. Or maybe you've watched the world grow louder and more divided and felt something in you quietly insisting: this is not how it's supposed to be. You're not angry exactly. You're just... tired. And underneath the tiredness, still hopeful. Still listening for something true.
That's why I built Love Over Division. Not as an argument, and not as a new doctrine to replace the old one. But as an honest, warm, unhurried space to explore what so many prophets, poets, and ordinary human beings have sensed in their bones across every tradition and century — that we are one family, that love is the deepest law, and that the divisions we've inherited are distortions, not destiny.
We start with the body — with melanin and migration and the actual science of why human skin comes in the range it does. Not because science is the final word on anything sacred, but because when you understand that race was constructed and not discovered, something shifts permanently. Then we move through history together — looking clearly at how institutions that claimed to carry a message of unity chose, again and again, to sanctify division instead. We name it without bitterness, because understanding the wound is how healing begins.
From there, we sit with the dreamers. Martin Luther King Jr.'s vision — not as a monument, but as a living roadmap for how you speak to your neighbour, how you handle conflict, how you choose to see the person across the table who is nothing like you. John Lennon's Imagine as genuine prophetic literature. And the peacemakers who were never famous — whose courage and kindness will move you more than any sermon.
And we build something personal. An altar of the heart — your own spirituality centred not on institution or ritual or the right set of beliefs, but on kindness as liturgy, encounter as sacrament, and conscience as your most reliable guide. Then we practise. Nonviolent communication. Cross-cultural empathy. A daily peace practice that is your concrete, real contribution to a world that needs it.
I won't pretend this is easy material. Honest reckoning with history, with inherited images, with the ways we've been shaped by division — that takes courage. But I've found, over and over, that people who are drawn to this conversation are already carrying the answer in them. They just need a place where it's safe to let it breathe. I hope this school is that place for you. Come as you are. Bring your questions, your grief, your hope. The door is open.
