Turn Grade 7 Math from Confusing to Click
A confidence-building Grade 7 math school that turns confusion into clarity — covering ratios, algebra, geometry, and more through step-by-step lessons kids actually enjoy.

I don't teach rules to memorise — I teach the 'why' behind them, because that's what actually makes maths stick.— Wanda Ezell

6 modules · 20 lessons

Rational Numbers & the Number Line
Students build foundational fluency with rational numbers — fractions, decimals, and percentages — understanding them as different representations of the same value and locating them precisely on the number line. This module is deliberately first because rational number literacy underpins every subsequent module, from integers to geometry formulas.
- 1.1Fractions, Decimals & Percentages — Same Number, Different DisguiseIncluded
- 1.2Placing Rational Numbers on the Number LineIncluded
- 1.3Comparing, Ordering & Rounding Rational NumbersIncluded
- 1.4Rational Numbers in Real-World ContextsIncluded
Integer Operations — Mastering Negative Numbers
Students develop a deep, conceptual understanding of integers and the rules governing all four operations with negative numbers. Placed after Rational Numbers so students already have number-line fluency, this module extends that spatial understanding into negative territory and prepares students for algebraic work with signed coefficients in the next module.
- 2.1Understanding Integers & Adding IntegersIncluded
- 2.2Subtracting Integers — Why 'Minus a Negative' WorksIncluded
- 2.3Multiplying & Dividing Integers — The Sign RulesIncluded
Ratios, Proportions & Rates
Students solve increasingly complex ratio and proportion problems in real-world contexts including recipes, maps, scale drawings, and speed. Placed after Integer Operations to ensure signed-number fluency, this module also leverages rational number conversion skills from Module 1 and directly introduces algebraic thinking (cross-multiplication) as a bridge to the Algebra module.
- 3.1Understanding & Writing RatiosIncluded
- 3.2Solving Proportions — Scale, Maps & RecipesIncluded
- 3.3Unit Rates, Speed & Real-World Proportion ProblemsIncluded
Algebraic Expressions & Equations
Students move from numerical reasoning to symbolic reasoning — writing, simplifying, and evaluating expressions, then solving one- and two-step equations. This module is placed after Ratios & Proportions because proportion equations (cross-multiplication) have already introduced the idea of solving for an unknown, making the transition to formal algebra natural.
- 4.1Writing & Evaluating Algebraic ExpressionsIncluded
- 4.2Simplifying Expressions — Like Terms & the Distributive PropertyIncluded
- 4.3Solving One-Step EquationsIncluded
- 4.4Solving Two-Step Equations & Checking SolutionsIncluded
Geometry — Area, Perimeter & Volume
Students calculate perimeters, areas, and volumes for key 2D and 3D shapes, applying algebraic formula skills from Module 4. Formulas are understood conceptually before being applied, and real-world contexts (fencing, painting, packaging) keep the work grounded. The module is placed after Algebra so students are comfortable substituting values into and rearranging formulas.
- 5.1Perimeter & Area of Quadrilaterals and TrianglesIncluded
- 5.2Circles — Circumference & AreaIncluded
- 5.3Volume & Surface Area of Prisms and CylindersIncluded
Statistics — Displaying & Interpreting Data
Students collect, organise, display, and critically interpret data using bar charts, histograms, and measures of central tendency (mean, median, mode, and range). Placed last because it draws on rational number fluency (Module 1) for computing means and on algebraic thinking (Module 4) for finding an unknown value given a mean, making it a powerful cross-curricular capstone.
- 6.1Collecting Data & Measures of Central TendencyIncluded
- 6.2Bar Charts, Histograms & Reading Statistical DisplaysIncluded
- 6.3Interpreting Data & Drawing Evidence-Based ConclusionsIncluded
Who it's for

Wanda Ezell
Hey — if you're here, chances are Grade 7 math has thrown at least one curveball recently. Maybe negative numbers feel backwards. Maybe algebra looks like someone let the alphabet into maths class uninvited. Maybe things were going fine and then suddenly… not so fine. I get it. And I want you to know: that feeling isn't a sign that you're bad at maths. It's a sign that you haven't had it explained the right way yet.
That's exactly why I built Math Club 7. Every unit in this school starts by answering the question students rarely get to ask out loud: "But why does it work like that?" Why does minus a negative become a positive? Why do we call them "like terms"? Why does the formula for a circle's area have π in it? When you understand the why, the how stops feeling like a list of rules to memorise and starts feeling like common sense.
We cover everything that matters in Grade 7 — rational numbers, integers, ratios and proportions, algebra, geometry, and statistics — but we do it with real-world hooks that make the maths feel relevant. We use recipes to explore ratios, maps to solve proportions, temperature to understand integers, and actual data sets to practise statistics. Because abstract maths is hard. Maths that connects to something real? That's a completely different experience.
Here's the thing I most want you to hear: you don't need to be a "maths person" to do well in maths. You need clear explanations, a logical sequence, and enough practice to make things feel familiar. That's what this school is built to give you. Every lesson is short, every concept is concrete, and every step forward is one you've genuinely earned.
Whether you're a student who wants to stop dreading maths class, or a parent who wants something structured and trustworthy to support your child at home — you're in the right place. Let's turn confusion into clarity, one topic at a time. You've genuinely got this.
