If you've been looking at healthcare careers and wondering whether you missed your window — you haven't. I know what it's like to stand at the edge of an industry that feels full of credentials and acronyms and insider knowledge, and wonder if there's really a way in. There is. And it doesn't require a four-year degree, a clinical background, or even knowing what an EOB is yet (you will, soon — I promise it's not as intimidating as it sounds).
I built intro to Medical Billing & Coding because I believe the biggest barrier to entering this field isn't ability — it's clarity. Nobody explained the revenue cycle to me as a single, logical workflow the first time around. Nobody told me that ICD-10-CM has a structure you can actually learn to navigate, or that most claim rejections come down to the same handful of avoidable errors. I had to piece it together from policy manuals, confusing software, and a lot of trial and error. You won't have to do that here.
Everything in this curriculum is designed the way I wish someone had taught it to me: term first, definition immediately after, real clinical example right behind it. We move from the big picture — how the US healthcare system is organized, how money flows from patient to provider to payer — all the way down to the exact codes you'd assign to a diabetic patient presenting with a wrist fracture. Nothing is assumed, and nothing is skipped.
By the time you reach the certification prep and career launch section, you won't just know the material — you'll know how to use it. You'll be able to read a Superbill, spot a bundling issue, work a denied claim through the appeals process, and walk into a job interview and speak the language of every person in the room.
