Train the mind that wins the game
Train the mind that drives the performance. This school gives high school and college athletes the mental tools to compete with confidence, focus, and consistency — especially when the pressure is highest.

"Your body is already trained — it's time to give your mind the same respect."— Kathryn Labatad

Mental Game Snapshot — Know Where You're Starting
Before you can build a stronger mental game, you need to know where you actually stand. This opening module establishes your personal baseline — how you currently process pressure, mistakes, and success — so every lesson that follows is targeted, relevant, and immediately useful. Athletes often assume the mental game only matters in big moments. This module reveals it's happening every single rep, every single day.
- 1.1The Mental Game Snapshot QuizIncluded
- 1.2Your Mind Is Already Performing — Whether You've Trained It or NotIncluded
- 1.3How the Best Competitors Think DifferentlyIncluded
The Performance Mindset — Build the Foundation
This is where the real construction begins. Before athletes can regulate emotions, install pre-game routines, or upgrade deep internal patterns, they need a performance mindset foundation — the core mental operating system that every other skill is built on. This module teaches athletes how their interpretations, self-talk, and beliefs function as direct performance instructions, and introduces the true source of competitive confidence. Every lesson is practical, immediately applicable, and grounded in real athletic scenarios.
- 2.1How You Interpret What Happens Changes EverythingIncluded
- 2.2Self-Talk Is a Skill — Train It Like OneIncluded
- 2.3Beliefs Are Performance InstructionsIncluded
- 2.4The Confidence Code — Where Real Confidence Comes FromIncluded
Mental Toughness in Real Time — The Drills That Matter
This is the most hands-on module in the school. Knowing how your mind works is only half the equation — the other half is having the real-time tools to stay mentally locked in when competition gets hard. This module delivers four high-impact mental performance drills that athletes can install immediately: focus anchors, reset triggers, pre-competition routines, and pressure inoculation. Every lesson includes sport-specific examples, step-by-step drill construction, and guidance on how to train these tools so they work automatically under pressure.
- 3.1Focus Anchors — Lock In When It Matters MostIncluded
- 3.2The Reset Trigger — Bounce Back Faster Than AnyoneIncluded
- 3.3Pre-Competition Routines — Show Up Ready Every TimeIncluded
- 3.4Pressure Inoculation — Train Hard for High-Stakes MomentsIncluded
Emotional Regulation — Stay in Control When It Gets Hard
Elite performance requires the ability to feel intense emotions and still perform at your best — not the ability to avoid emotions altogether. This module targets the four emotional performance traps that derail the most talented athletes: competition anxiety, frustration spirals, comparison, and perfectionism. Each lesson names the trap clearly, explains exactly how it hijacks performance, and delivers a specific, immediately usable regulation strategy. Athletes finish this module with a complete emotional regulation toolkit they can access in real time during competition.
- 4.1Competition Anxiety Is Not the Problem — Here's What IsIncluded
- 4.2Frustration and the Downward Spiral — Break the PatternIncluded
- 4.3Comparison and the Confidence ThiefIncluded
- 4.4Perfectionism — When High Standards Become a Performance TrapIncluded
Internal Patterns — The Hidden Driver of Your Performance
This is the deepest and most transformational module in the school. After four modules building performance skills, athletes are now ready to look beneath the surface and understand why those patterns exist in the first place. This module reveals the internal wiring — the deeply held beliefs, stories, and self-perceptions — that drive performance outcomes at the root level. Athletes learn where their patterns came from, why they've persisted, and exactly how to rewrite the ones that are capping their athletic ceiling. This module is the bridge between performance skills and lasting, self-directed competitive growth.
- 5.1The Blueprint Below the SurfaceIncluded
- 5.2Where Your Patterns Came From — And Why They StuckIncluded
- 5.3Rewriting the Pattern — The Mental Reps That Change EverythingIncluded
Your Competitive Advantage — Build It to Last
This is the culminating module — the place where everything the athlete has learned, practiced, and uncovered comes together into a clear, durable competitive identity. Athletes now understand how their internal wiring shapes their performance outcomes. In this module, they name it, own it, and build a long-term mental performance plan that makes their growth self-sustaining. The module closes with the full Mental Game Assessment — the definitive measure of how far they've come — and a student-facing transformation statement that anchors the athlete's new competitive self-concept for life.
- 6.1Your Self-Concept as a Competitor — The Final LayerIncluded
- 6.2The Mental Game Assessment — See How Far You've ComeIncluded
- 6.3Your Long-Term Mental Performance PlanIncluded

A note from your teacher
Kathryn Labatad
I know what it feels like to watch your physical talent not show up on game day. You've put in the work. You know what you're capable of — you've felt it in practice, in the moments when everything clicks. And then the lights get bright, or you make one mistake, or someone's watching who matters, and something shifts. You tighten up. You go somewhere in your head that doesn't help you. And you walk off the field or court or track frustrated, because that wasn't the athlete you know you can be.
That gap — between what you're capable of and what you actually produce under pressure — is almost never a physical problem. It's a mental one. And the mental game can be trained. That's not a motivational line. It's a fact, and it's exactly what this school was built around.
I built The Mental Game School because I kept seeing the same thing: talented athletes being held back not by their body, but by unexamined mental patterns — a perfectionism habit that made every mistake feel catastrophic, a confidence that shattered the moment results went bad, an anxiety response they'd never been given tools to work with. No one had ever sat them down and actually taught them how their mind works under pressure, or given them specific, drillable tools to change it. That's what this school does. From the Mental Game Snapshot in Week 1 — where you get an honest look at how you actually process pressure and mistakes right now — to the self-concept work at the end, this is a complete system, not a highlight reel of tips.
Here's the objection I hear most: "I just need to play through it." And I respect that. Toughness matters. But grinding through mental patterns you've never examined doesn't make them go away — it just makes you more tired. The athletes who build the deepest, most durable competitive confidence are the ones who understand why they do what they do under pressure, and have real tools to change it. That's what the work in Modules 4 and 5 is about. It's the part most athletes never do. It's also the part that changes everything.
If you're an athlete who's ready to close the gap between your potential and your performance — or a coach or parent who wants to understand and support the mental game for real — I want to work with you. Every tool in this school is one you can use at the next practice. Let's get to work.
