What's inside your school

6 modules · 23 lessons

1

Fractions, Decimals & Percentages

Students build fluency with fractions, decimals, and percentages — understanding what each representation means, how to convert between them, and how to apply all three in multi-step calculations without a calculator. This module is placed first because fractions and place value are foundational prerequisites for ratios, proportions, and algebra.

  • 1.1Fractions Without FearIncluded
  • 1.2Decimals — Place Value to OperationsIncluded
  • 1.3Percentages in the Real WorldIncluded
  • 1.4Multi-Step Problems — Mixing It All TogetherIncluded
2

Ratios, Rates & Proportional Reasoning

Students learn to express, simplify, and apply ratios and rates, then scale quantities up and down using proportional reasoning. This module builds directly on fraction fluency from Module 1 and prepares students for the proportional thinking embedded in algebra and geometry.

  • 2.1What Is a Ratio?Included
  • 2.2Unit Rates & SpeedIncluded
  • 2.3Proportions & Cross-MultiplicationIncluded
  • 2.4Proportional Relationships & GraphsIncluded
3

Integers & the Number Line

Students develop confident, conceptual understanding of negative numbers — what they mean, where they live on the number line, and how all four operations work with them. Placing this module before algebra ensures students are not tripped up by negative coefficients or constants when solving equations.

  • 3.1Introducing Negative NumbersIncluded
  • 3.2Adding & Subtracting IntegersIncluded
  • 3.3Multiplying & Dividing IntegersIncluded
4

Introduction to Algebra

Students transition from arithmetic to algebraic thinking — using variables to generalise, writing and evaluating expressions, and solving one- and two-step equations. The module closes with coordinate graphing and patterns, connecting algebra to visual representations and previewing the proportional-relationship graphs introduced earlier.

  • 4.1Variables & Algebraic ExpressionsIncluded
  • 4.2Solving One-Step EquationsIncluded
  • 4.3Solving Two-Step EquationsIncluded
  • 4.4Graphing & Patterns on the Coordinate PlaneIncluded
5

Geometry — Shapes, Measurement & Space

Students calculate perimeter, area, circumference, surface area, and volume for common 2D and 3D shapes, and investigate angle relationships and triangle properties. Algebraic skills from Module 4 are applied when rearranging formulas and solving for unknown dimensions.

  • 5.1Angles & Triangle PropertiesIncluded
  • 5.2Perimeter & Area of 2D ShapesIncluded
  • 5.3Circles — Circumference & AreaIncluded
  • 5.4Surface Area & Volume of 3D ShapesIncluded
6

Data, Graphs & Statistics

Students collect, organise, display, and summarise data using tables, multiple graph types, and measures of centre and spread. This module is placed last because it provides an authentic application context that draws on calculation skills (fractions, decimals, percentages) and graphing skills (coordinate plane) developed throughout the course.

  • 6.1Collecting & Organising DataIncluded
  • 6.2Bar Graphs, Histograms & Line GraphsIncluded
  • 6.3Mean, Median, Mode & RangeIncluded
  • 6.4Reading & Interpreting Tables and GraphsIncluded

Who it's for

Is this you?

The Frustrated 6th Grader

Fractions and decimals feel confusing, and 'Fractions Without Fear' is exactly the fresh start they need.

The Algebra-Anxious 7th Grader

Variables and equations feel like a mystery — until step-by-step algebra lessons make the logic finally click.

The 8th Grader Catching Up

Gaps from earlier grades are holding them back, and this structured curriculum fills every one of them before high school.

The Supportive Parent

Wants a reliable, classroom-aligned resource to sit down with their child when homework gets tough.

The Independent Learner

Motivated to get ahead or self-study, and loves that each unit is self-contained and clearly explained.

The Visual, Real-World Thinker

Needs concepts tied to real life — ratios as sports stats, geometry as actual shapes — to make math feel meaningful.

Stephanie Furness

Hey — if you're reading this, there's a good chance you (or your child) has had that sinking feeling in math class. The one where everyone else seems to nod along, and you're sitting there thinking, "Wait, how did we get that answer?" Maybe fractions feel slippery. Maybe negative numbers seem backwards. Maybe algebra looks like a foreign language with too many letters and not enough clues.

I want you to know: that feeling isn't a sign that you're bad at math. It's a sign that math hasn't been explained to you in a way that actually sticks. And that's exactly what I built Math That Clicks to fix.

This school goes through every major middle school math topic — fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, integers, algebra, geometry, graphs, statistics — in a specific order, with a specific goal: make sure every single idea makes sense before we move to the next one. We use real examples. Discounts at the store. Pizza. Basketball stats. The coordinate plane as a map. When you can see why math works, you stop forgetting it and start owning it.

I also know that "just watch more videos" isn't the answer if those videos are confusing, fast, or cold. Every lesson here is written and paced for a middle schooler who's had a long school day and needs things explained clearly, encouragingly, and without judgement. Short sentences. No jargon without explanation. And a little bit of humour, because math doesn't have to feel like a punishment.

Whether you're a student who wants to stop dreading math tests, or a parent who wants a structured, trustworthy supplement to what's happening in the classroom — this is built for you. Come in wherever you need to. Start at the beginning or jump to the unit that's giving you trouble. Either way, I'll meet you right where you are, and we'll figure it out together. That's my promise.
