- Integrate breath-awareness and sensory-grounding rituals into every art session to actively reduce stress and anxiety
- Layer and combine multiple media in a single piece, knowing when and how different materials interact without ruining the work
- Develop a consistent personal creative practice, returning to your studio (however small) with intention and ease each month
- Read the mood and energy of a session and choose the right medium or technique to match your emotional or mental state
- Finish pieces you're genuinely proud of — moving past perfectionism and inner critic blocks through mindful process prompts

Arriving: Mindfulness Foundations & Your Creative Space
Before a single drop of ink or grain of grout touches a surface, members need a stable inner and outer foundation. This opening module establishes the mindfulness rituals, sensory-grounding practices, and studio-setup principles that will anchor every subsequent session. It also introduces the core philosophy of the club: process over product, presence over perfection. Completing this module first ensures every technique taught later is experienced through a mindful lens from day one.
- 1.1The Mindful Maker's RitualIncluded
- 1.2Setting Up a Studio That Supports YouIncluded
Flow & Freedom: Alcohol Inks
Alcohol inks are the curriculum's first technique because they are the most forgiving of imperfection and the most immediate in their reward — colour blooms, flows, and surprises within seconds. This makes them the ideal medium for dismantling early perfectionism and demonstrating that beautiful results emerge from letting go rather than controlling. Members learn the material science of alcohol inks alongside the mindfulness of surrender, building both technical confidence and an experiential reference point for 'flow state' they will return to throughout the course.
- 2.1Understanding Alcohol Inks: Properties, Surfaces & ToolsIncluded
- 2.2Surrender & Composition: Making Intentional Work with Chaotic MediaIncluded
Depth & Transformation: Resin & Pastels
This module pairs two techniques that sit at opposite ends of the sensory and time spectrum — resin (slow, patient, chemically precise, transformative) and soft pastels (immediate, tactile, forgiving, gestural) — to teach members how medium choice can be a direct response to emotional state. Resin demands that you slow down and trust a process you cannot rush; pastels reward bold, fast, unguarded marks. Experiencing both in the same module builds the 'medium as mood tool' literacy that feeds directly into the 'Reading Your Energy' lesson and the later integration module. Note: resin safety prerequisites were seeded in Module 1's studio setup lesson, so members arrive here already safety-aware.
- 3.1Resin Foundations: Patience, Process & EncapsulationIncluded
- 3.2Soft Pastels: Immediate Sensation & Fearless Mark-MakingIncluded
- 3.3Reading Your Energy: Choosing the Right Medium for the MomentIncluded
Colour, Light & Quiet: Watercolour
Watercolour is placed fourth — after the more forgiving or faster media — intentionally. By this point, members have built emotional resilience and anti-perfectionism habits, which they will need: watercolour is transparent, unforgiving of heavy-handed corrections, and deeply reliant on understanding water behaviour. This sequencing means members approach watercolour as skilled, mindful practitioners rather than intimidated beginners. The module covers both technical foundations and expressive technique, with the mindfulness frame of quietude, lightness, and acceptance of the medium's inherent unpredictability.
- 4.1Watercolour Essentials: Washes, Water Control & TransparencyIncluded
- 4.2Glazing, Negative Painting & Emotional DepthIncluded
Texture, Touch & Presence: Mosaic
Mosaic is placed fifth — the most tactile, physical, and slow of the five media — by which point members have developed patience (resin), surrender (alcohol inks), sensory awareness (pastels), and precision mindfulness (watercolour). All of these feed into mosaic, which uniquely combines design planning, manual cutting skill, material sorting, and the meditative rhythm of placing tesserae one at a time. The module covers the complete mosaic process from design through to grouted finish, ensuring members produce a genuinely complete piece — an important milestone before the integration module.
- 5.1Mosaic Foundations: Design, Cutting & the Art of AndamentoIncluded
- 5.2Adhesion, Grouting & Finishing a Complete PieceIncluded
The Whole Artist: Mixed-Media Integration & Sustainable Practice
The capstone module synthesises all five media and all mindfulness practices into two unified outcomes: the ability to combine materials intelligently in a single artwork, and the design of a personal creative practice that genuinely sustains across months and years. This module is placed last because it requires fluency in all preceding techniques; every lesson here draws directly on earlier hands-on experience. The inner critic work is deliberately woven throughout rather than confined to a single lesson, and the final signature piece is the lived proof of everything learned.
- 6.1Mixed-Media Logic: Layering, Compatibility & Creative RiskIncluded
- 6.2Silencing the Inner Critic: Mindful Process PromptsIncluded
- 6.3Signature Piece: Your Full-Journey Mixed-Media ArtworkIncluded
- 6.4Your Monthly Practice Ritual: Designing a Creative Life That LastsIncluded

A note from your teacher
Robin Bott
I know what it feels like to sit down at your creative space and immediately feel like you're doing it wrong. Maybe you haven't made anything in months — or years. Maybe you've bought the supplies, set up the corner of the room, and then just… looked at it. The blank surface. The quiet expectation. And somehow, instead of feeling free, you feel more stressed than when you started.
That's the exact feeling I wanted to design a way out of. Because I believe making art isn't supposed to be another performance. It's supposed to be a place you go — the way you go for a walk, or make a cup of tea — because it gives something back to you.
In Mindful Makers Club, I'll walk you through five very different media — alcohol inks, resin, pastels, mosaic, and watercolour — not so you can master them all at once, but so you can discover which ones feel like home, and which ones to reach for depending on your mood and energy on any given day. We'll start with the foundations: setting up a space that actually supports you, and building a simple arrival ritual that signals to your nervous system that this time is yours. From there, we move through each medium at an unhurried pace — understanding how it behaves, what it asks of you, and what it quietly teaches you about letting go. By the end, you'll bring everything together into one layered, mixed-media piece that is unmistakably yours.
I also want to name the thing most art courses don't talk about: the inner critic. That voice that says the colours are muddy, the composition is wrong, that other people's work is so much better. We address it directly — not by ignoring it, but with specific, gentle process prompts built into the curriculum that redirect your attention from judgement back to sensation, back to the feel of the pastel on paper or the weight of the mosaic tile in your hand. That's where the making lives. That's where the relief is.
If you've been craving a creative practice that feels like a ritual rather than a task — one that grows with you, fits around your real life, and leaves you calmer than when you started — I'd love for you to pull up a chair. The materials are ready. There's no right way to begin. There's only beginning.
Welcome to the club.
