A note from your teacher
Derick Faison
I want to speak directly to where you might be right now.
You felt the call. You said yes. Maybe you've already received your license or your ordination, or maybe you're still in that in-between season — sensing the pull toward ministry but not yet sure you have everything you need to walk it out with confidence. Either way, there's a quiet weight that comes with this calling. You want to do it right. You want to stand in a pulpit and actually have something worth saying. You want to walk into a hospital room and know how to bring peace, not awkwardness. You want to lead a funeral with grace and a wedding with joy — and not get tripped up by the things nobody told you about.
I built The Ministerial Training Cohort because that gap is real, and it has cost too many good ministers too many painful moments that could have been prevented with the right training. This cohort covers the full landscape of what ministry actually asks of you — from your character and conduct as a person of God, to the mechanics of a well-structured sermon, to the sacred order of a communion service, to the legal paperwork that goes with a wedding license in your state. Nothing is too small to teach if it matters in the moment you're standing there.
What you will find in this cohort is not academic theory dressed up in theological language. Every lesson is grounded in real pastoral experience and real church life. I want you to be able to finish a session and immediately apply what you've learned — whether you're preparing for Sunday's service, a hospital visit this afternoon, or a graveside service you didn't expect to lead this week. That's the kind of training that actually changes how you minister.
And I want to be honest with you about something most ministry schools won't say out loud: your family is part of your calling. If your marriage is suffering because of ministry demands, that is a ministry problem — not a home problem. That's why this cohort ends with a serious, practical look at how to protect your marriage, communicate with your spouse as a true partner, set boundaries that hold, and guard yourself against the burnout that has quietly ended more ministries than any theological disagreement ever has.
You were called to this. Let's make sure you're equipped for it. I'm honored to walk this road with you.
