The Apocrypha

In comparing the contents of the Protestant Bible with that of the Roman Catholic or Greek Orthodox Bible the number of books in each are different. This disparity is the result of a section of books between the Old Testament and the New Testament called the Apocrypha. Maybe you've sat in a church service and felt like everyone else already knew something you didn't. Maybe a friend or family member has tried to explain their faith and you nodded along, wishing you had more to work with. Or maybe you've simply found yourself drawn to the big questions — about God, about meaning, about what billions of people across history have found in this faith — and you want honest, thoughtful answers.

If any of that resonates, you're exactly who I had in mind when I built this school.

I've spent years in conversations exactly like the one this curriculum is designed to be — sitting with people who are curious but uncertain, who have questions they feel a little embarrassed to ask, who want to understand Christianity without being talked down to or preached at. What I've found, again and again, is that what people really need isn't a list of doctrines. It's a map. A sense of how everything connects — the history, the beliefs, the scriptures, the person of Jesus, and the living traditions that carry his story forward today.

That's what this school gives you. We start where the story starts: with the Abrahamic family of faiths, so you understand the world Jesus was born into. We move through the core beliefs — God, Trinity, salvation, the Holy Spirit — in plain language that doesn't require a seminary degree to follow. We open the Bible together and I show you how to actually read it, not just quote it. We walk through the life, teachings, miracles, death, and resurrection of Jesus with both historical honesty and the reverence that story deserves. And we close by looking at the living church — Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox — and at what it actually means to practice faith in your own life.

I know some of you are believers who want a stronger foundation. Some of you are seekers who aren't sure what you believe yet. Some of you come from Jewish, Muslim, or entirely secular backgrounds and want to understand something important about a faith that has shaped much of the world. All of you are welcome here. This is not a place for easy answers or empty reassurances — it's a place for real learning, genuine questions, and the kind of clarity that only comes from taking ideas seriously.
