Oncology AI Forward

"As a former cancer patient very successfully treated at PMH Toronto, (Dr Brandwein), my goal is for every clinician and educator who completes this program to walk into any room — grand rounds, the boardroom, the lecture hall — and speak about AI in oncology with the same evidence-based authority they bring to any high-stakes clinical question."

If you are reading this, you are already tracking the AI transformation in oncology — the papers, the conference sessions, the tools appearing in radiology workflows and pathology dashboards and trial matching platforms. You know this is not hype. What may be less clear is how to move from informed observer to confident practitioner and educator: someone who can critically evaluate a radiomics study, interrogate an AI vendor's validation claims, and then walk into a lecture hall or a department meeting and translate all of it with precision and authority.

That gap — between awareness and genuine command — is exactly what this program is built to close.

I designed Oncology AI Forward for the specialists I know best: pharmacists, clinicians who teach, researchers who train the next generation, educators updating curricula that were written before foundation models existed, and administrators trying to build institutional AI governance without a clear roadmap. These are people with deep domain expertise who do not need AI evangelism. They need rigorous frameworks, honest appraisal of the evidence, and practical tools they can use on Monday morning.

The curriculum moves the way a well-structured grand rounds sequence would. We begin with the foundations — not because you lack clinical knowledge, but because the AI concepts that matter for oncology practice (how models are trained, how performance metrics should be interpreted, what the data infrastructure actually looks like) deserve the same careful grounding you would give any new diagnostic modality. From there, we move through the full clinical stack: diagnostic imaging AI and computational histopathology, precision oncology and drug discovery acceleration, point-of-care AI in radiotherapy and surgery, and adaptive protocols including digital twin applications. Every unit is anchored in peer-reviewed evidence and structured around the evaluative questions a rigorous clinician would ask.

What I think sets this program apart is what comes after the clinical content. The ethics, regulation, and governance unit is not a compliance checkbox — it is a working guide to FDA pathways, EU AI Act implications, algorithmic bias and health equity, and the explainability standards that now shape informed consent. And the curriculum design unit is a genuine educator's toolkit: learning outcome mapping, CME alignment, active-learning strategy selection, and continuous update workflows. Because the field will keep moving, and your teaching needs to move with it.

I built this because I believe the clinicians and educators who understand AI deeply — not just superficially — are the ones who will shape how it is adopted, how it is governed, and how the next generation of oncologists learns to use it responsibly. I would be glad to have you in that group. Come learn with us.
