Getting Comfortable with ChatGPT
Establishes the essential foundation before any prompting begins. Students learn what ChatGPT actually is under the hood, set up their account, and — critically — shift their mental model from search-engine thinking to conversational AI thinking. Without this mindset shift, every subsequent lesson is harder.
- 1.1What Is ChatGPT and How Does It Think?Included
- 1.2Setting Up and Finding Your Way AroundIncluded
- 1.3The Conversation Mindset — Talking to AI, Not Googling ItIncluded
Crafting Prompts That Actually Work
The core skill module. Students learn the internal structure of an effective prompt and the specific levers — role, tone, format, length, and constraints — that produce reliably useful output. Mastering this module unlocks every downstream use case in the course.
- 2.1The Anatomy of a Great PromptIncluded
- 2.2Giving ChatGPT a Role and a ToneIncluded
- 2.3Prompting for Specific Formats and LengthsIncluded
- 2.4Iterating and Refining — Getting to the Answer You Actually NeedIncluded
Writing, Editing, and Communicating Faster
Students apply their prompting skills to the most common real-world writing tasks: professional emails, structured documents, and social media content. Each lesson focuses on speed, quality, and maintaining the student's own authentic voice.
- 3.1Emails and Messages in MinutesIncluded
- 3.2Reports, Plans, and Structured DocumentsIncluded
- 3.3Social Media and Short-Form ContentIncluded
Summarising, Researching, and Saving Hours
Students harness ChatGPT as an information-processing engine — compressing long documents, extracting specific answers from large bodies of text, and scaffolding research and brainstorming tasks that previously took hours.
- 4.1Summarise Anything — Documents, Articles, and NotesIncluded
- 4.2Ask Questions Over Long TextIncluded
- 4.3Research Outlines and Brainstorming on DemandIncluded
Staying in Control — Spotting Errors and Verifying Output
The safety and critical-thinking module — deliberately placed after students have experienced ChatGPT's power, so they have concrete examples to anchor the concepts. Students learn why hallucinations happen, how to spot them, and how to build verification habits that keep them confidently in control.
- 5.1Understanding Hallucinations — Why ChatGPT Makes Things UpIncluded
- 5.2Your Verification ToolkitIncluded
- 5.3Responsible and Ethical Use — Staying on the Right SideIncluded
Building Your Personal Prompt Library and Daily Workflow
The capstone module. Students consolidate everything learned by building lasting, reusable assets: a personal prompt library tailored to their specific role or hobby, automated thinking routines, and a sustainable daily AI workflow. The goal is confident, independent use long after the course ends.
- 6.1Designing Reusable Prompt TemplatesIncluded
- 6.2Automating Repetitive Thinking TasksIncluded
- 6.3Your Personal AI Workflow — Putting It All TogetherIncluded

Dawn Olson
Hi — I'm really glad you're here, and I want to start with something important: if you feel a little behind on the whole AI thing, you are not alone. Not even close.
Most of the people I work with are smart, capable adults — professionals, business owners, retirees, lifelong learners — who just never had anyone sit down with them and say, "here's how this actually works, in plain English, no condescension." They tried ChatGPT, got a mediocre result, and figured either the tool was overhyped or they just "weren't tech people." Neither of those things is true. They just hadn't learned how to talk to it yet.
That's the whole point of this school. I built Prompt With Confidence because the gap I kept seeing wasn't about intelligence or technical ability — it was about confidence and a clear starting point. Once someone understands how ChatGPT "thinks," and learns the simple structure behind a great prompt, everything changes. Suddenly they're drafting emails in two minutes. Summarising a 20-page report before their morning coffee. Brainstorming a week's worth of content ideas in one session. These aren't dramatic claims — they're just what happens when the right person gets the right instruction.
I've designed every lesson to feel like a conversation, not a lecture. We use real examples, everyday analogies, and tasks you'll actually want to do. We celebrate small wins, because small wins compound. And I've made sure we don't skip the important stuff — like how to spot when ChatGPT is wrong, and how to stay in control of what it produces, because being a confident AI user means being a critical one too.
By the time you reach the final module, you won't just know how to use ChatGPT — you'll have a personal library of prompt templates built around your own life and work, and a daily workflow that saves you real time. You'll also have something harder to quantify but just as valuable: the calm certainty that you understand this tool, and it's working for you.
If you've been curious but hesitant — this is your moment. Come as you are. We'll take it one step at a time, together.
