What you'll learn

What you'll be able to do

  • Demonstrate measurable growth across all five pillars of reading — phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension — as tracked by pre- and post-assessments tied to grade-level standards.
  • Read and analyze both informational and narrative grade-level texts with confidence, identifying central ideas, key details, and author's purpose using evidence-based annotation strategies.
  • Apply knowledge of prefixes, suffixes, and Greek and Latin roots to independently decode and determine the meaning of unfamiliar words encountered in academic texts.
  • Use context clues and surrounding text evidence to infer the meaning of challenging vocabulary in both fiction and nonfiction passages.
  • Execute age-appropriate test-taking strategies — including question analysis, process of elimination, and pacing — to approach standardized ELA assessments with reduced anxiety and improved accuracy.
  • Receive and respond to targeted teacher feedback through the platform, using progress-check quiz data to identify personal strengths and set focused reading improvement goals.

Foundational Reading Assessment & Personalized Placement

Every student begins here — no exceptions. This mandatory onboarding module collects baseline data across all five pillars of reading (phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension) through a structured diagnostic sequence. Results are automatically aggregated into the Teacher Dashboard, enabling the adaptive engine to personalize each student's learning path and allowing teachers to monitor individual progress from day one. State standards alignment (Common Core or Florida B.E.S.T.) is configured here so all subsequent content is calibrated to the correct benchmark set.

  • 1.1Welcome to Right Track Readers & Standards SetupIncluded
  • 1.2Phonemic Awareness & Phonics DiagnosticIncluded
  • 1.3Fluency & Comprehension DiagnosticIncluded
  • 1.4Vocabulary Placement Check & Dashboard OrientationIncluded
2

Phonemic Awareness & Phonics Power

This module builds and reinforces the decoding foundation that underlies all reading. Lessons move in deliberate sequence — from the smallest sound units (phonemes) through complex vowel and syllable patterns to multisyllabic words and the bridge into morphology. Adaptive branching ensures Grade 3 students who still need phonemic awareness work receive it, while Grade 5 students who test above this level are accelerated into morphology. All activities align to the phonics and word-recognition strands of Common Core and Florida B.E.S.T. standards.

  • 2.1Phoneme Play — Hearing, Blending & Segmenting SoundsIncluded
  • 2.2Cracking the Code — Vowel Patterns & Syllable TypesIncluded
  • 2.3Multisyllabic Word Mastery & Morphology BridgeIncluded
3

Fluency — Reading with Speed, Accuracy & Expression

Fluency is the bridge between decoding and comprehension. This module develops all three components of fluency — accuracy, rate, and prosody — through structured practice with grade-appropriate texts. Lessons build from awareness of what fluency looks and sounds like, through repeated-reading practice with graphed progress, to performance reading that integrates expression and meaning. Progress-check quizzes embedded in each lesson allow teachers to monitor growth and deliver targeted feedback. All fluency benchmarks are aligned to grade-level WCPM norms within the selected state standards.

  • 3.1What Fluent Reading Sounds & Feels LikeIncluded
  • 3.2Repeated Reading & Phrasing PracticeIncluded
  • 3.3Expression, Intonation & Performance ReadingIncluded
4

Vocabulary Mastery — Word Parts, Roots & Context Clues

This dedicated, rigorous vocabulary track addresses one of the highest-leverage skills for independent readers in Grades 3–5: the ability to decode the meaning of unfamiliar words without adult help. The module moves from structural analysis (prefixes/suffixes → Greek and Latin roots) to contextual analysis (context clues and signal words) and culminates in active, cross-disciplinary word use. Each lesson is adaptive — students who demonstrate mastery of basic prefixes are accelerated to roots and nuanced context clues. All vocabulary instruction targets Tier 2 and Tier 3 academic words drawn from grade-level informational and narrative texts, aligned to Common Core Language standards and Florida B.E.S.T. vocabulary benchmarks.

  • 4.1Unlocking Words with Prefixes & SuffixesIncluded
  • 4.2Greek & Latin Roots — The Building Blocks of Academic LanguageIncluded
  • 4.3Context Clues — Reading the Signals Around Unfamiliar WordsIncluded
  • 4.4Vocabulary in Action — Using Words Across Reading & WritingIncluded
5

Reading Comprehension — Texts, Thinking & Evidence

This is the heart of the Right Track Readers school. Students engage with a rich, balanced diet of grade-appropriate informational and narrative texts, developing the full range of comprehension skills required by Grades 3–5 Common Core ELA standards and Florida B.E.S.T. ELA benchmarks. Every lesson integrates interactive annotation tools, evidence-based questioning, and low-stakes progress checks. Adaptive branching adjusts text complexity (Lexile level) and question scaffolding based on ongoing performance data, ensuring every student is working at the edge of their current ability — not above it or below it. Teacher feedback is embedded throughout.

  • 5.1Central Idea & Key Details in Informational TextIncluded
  • 5.2Author's Purpose, Text Structure & Point of ViewIncluded
  • 5.3Story Elements & Literary Analysis in Narrative TextIncluded
  • 5.4Evidence-Based Questioning & Text-Dependent ResponseIncluded
6

Test-Taking Strategies & Standardized Assessment Readiness

This final module translates all the skills built throughout Right Track Readers into confident, strategic performance on standardized ELA assessments — including those aligned to Common Core and Florida B.E.S.T. (FSA/FAST). Students learn how tests are constructed, how to analyze questions before answering them, how to eliminate wrong answers systematically, and how to manage time across a multi-passage assessment. Critically, this module is placed AFTER all content modules so students are applying genuine reading skill — not test tricks — to standardized formats. Low-stakes practice tests and teacher-reviewed feedback sessions reduce test anxiety and build self-efficacy.

  • 6.1Know Your Test — Question Types & What They're Really AskingIncluded
  • 6.2Process of Elimination & Strategic Answer SelectionIncluded
  • 6.3Pacing, Passage Navigation & Test-Day ConfidenceIncluded

Lynette Munich

I know what it feels like to watch a capable kid hit a wall with reading — and not quite know why.

Maybe they can decode the words on the page, but when you ask them what the passage was about, the answer is a shrug. Maybe they're reading every word correctly but so slowly and haltingly that nothing is sticking. Maybe they freeze the moment they see a long academic word, even though they almost certainly have the tools to crack it. Or maybe they are strong readers — but they're not being stretched, and you can feel the potential sitting just out of reach.

That's exactly why Right Track Readers was built the way it was. We start with a real diagnostic — not a grade-level assumption — because no two readers at the same grade level are actually in the same place. From there, every lesson is designed to do two things at once: close the gaps that are holding a student back, and build the skills they need for what's coming next. We cover all five pillars of reading — phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension — not as isolated checkboxes, but as a connected system. When a student understands that "bio" comes from Greek meaning life, they don't just know one word. They can unlock dozens. That's the kind of thinking we build here.

I also want to be honest with you about something: reading instruction in Grades 3 through 5 is serious academic work. The shift from learning to read to reading to learn is one of the most consequential transitions in a child's education, and too many programs either oversimplify it or ignore it entirely. Right Track Readers holds students to high expectations — because they can meet them, and because meeting them matters. We celebrate effort, we explain the "why" behind every skill, and we make every lesson feel achievable without ever making it feel small.

Whether you're a classroom teacher looking for standards-aligned supplemental instruction, a reading specialist tracking individual student growth, or a parent who wants rigorous at-home reading support that actually connects to what's happening in school — this is the program built for you and your reader.

Come meet your students where they are. We'll take them further together.
