Welcome to Right Track Sprouts — Baseline & Onboarding

Every Sprout's journey begins here! This module introduces students and their families to the Right Track Sprouts world, establishes grade-level selection, and runs a warm, game-like Baseline Assessment across all 5 Pillars of Reading. Data collected here powers each student's unique Adaptive Learning Path. A Parent Dashboard orientation is included so families understand how to track progress, interpret results, and support learning at home from day one. Aligned to Common Core RF.K.1–RF.2.4, FL B.E.S.T. ELA.K–2, TEKS K.2–2.2, VA SOL K.4–2.6, AK ELA Standards, MN K–2 ELA, and NE CCR ELA Standards.

Phonemic Awareness — Hearing the Music in Words

Before students can decode printed words, they must hear and manipulate the individual sounds that make them up. This module builds oral phonemic awareness progressively — from noticing rhyme and alliteration, to blending and segmenting phonemes, to the advanced skill of phoneme manipulation. All lessons are fully tiered by grade level and adapt based on Baseline data. Strong phonemic awareness is the prerequisite for all Phonics work in Module 3. Aligned to CCSS RF.K.2, RF.1.2, FL B.E.S.T. ELA.K.F.1, TEKS K.2B–1.2B, VA SOL K.4, AK, MN, and NE ELA Standards.

  • 2.1Rhyme Time & Alliteration Nation (Pre-K/K Focus)Included
  • 2.2Segmenting & Blending Phonemes (Pre-K/K & 1st/2nd Adaptive)Included
  • 2.3Phoneme Manipulation — The Superpower Level (1st/2nd Grade Focus + K Enrichment)Included
3

Phonics — Cracking the Code

With phonemic awareness firmly established, students now map sounds to print. This module delivers systematic, explicit phonics instruction across both developmental tiers. Pre-K/K students master every letter name and sound and begin blending CVC words. 1st/2nd graders advance through digraphs, consonant blends, and vowel teams. A new prerequisite lesson on print concepts anchors all decoding work for the youngest learners. All phonics lessons include decodable text practice to ensure the code-cracking skills transfer to real reading. Aligned to CCSS RF.K.3, RF.1.3, RF.2.3, FL B.E.S.T. ELA.K.F.2, TEKS K.2C–2.2B, VA SOL K.5–2.7, AK, MN, and NE ELA Standards.

Fluency — Reading with Speed, Accuracy & Expression

Fluency is the vital bridge between decoding and comprehension — a student who reads haltingly cannot hold meaning together. This module builds all three components of fluency: accuracy, rate, and prosody (expression). A new prerequisite lesson on modeled fluency and awareness is followed by repeated reading practice and prosody mastery. Built-in progress checkpoints track words-correct-per-minute (WCPM) growth and expressive reading quality, with all data reported to the Parent Dashboard. Aligned to CCSS RF.K.4, RF.1.4, RF.2.4, FL B.E.S.T. ELA.1–2.F.3, TEKS 1.4–2.4, VA SOL 1.8–2.9, AK, MN, and NE ELA Standards.

  • 4.1What Is Fluent Reading? — Modeling & AwarenessIncluded
  • 4.2Repeated Reading — The Fluency SuperchargerIncluded
  • 4.3Phrasing, Punctuation & Expression MasteryIncluded
5

Vocabulary — Word Collectors

A rich vocabulary is the engine of both reading comprehension and writing quality. This module teaches students to learn words from context, understand relationships between words, and grow their vocabulary through wide reading of engaging, illustrated stories. A new prerequisite lesson on what words are and why we collect them grounds younger learners before context-strategy and word-relationship work begins. All vocabulary words are drawn from stories that also appear in the Comprehension module, creating a powerful cross-module connection. Aligned to CCSS L.K.4–L.2.6, RL.K.4–RL.2.4, FL B.E.S.T. ELA.K–2.V, TEKS K.7–2.7, VA SOL K.8–2.8, AK, MN, and NE ELA Standards.

  • 5.2Word Detectives — Learning Words from ContextIncluded
  • 5.3Word Relationships — Synonyms, Antonyms & Shades of MeaningIncluded
  • 5.4Words in Stories — Wide Reading for Vocabulary GrowthIncluded

Comprehension & the Reading-Writing Connection

Comprehension is the ultimate goal of all reading instruction, and writing is its most powerful expression. This module moves students from understanding story structure and retelling, through literal and inferential questioning, to producing their own text-dependent written responses and original sentences. A new lesson on reading different text types (literary vs. informational) is added to address the gap in the original draft's exclusive focus on narrative texts. All lessons draw on stories first encountered in the Vocabulary module, honoring the cross-module coherence of the curriculum. Aligned to CCSS RL.K.1–RL.2.9, RI.K.1–RI.2.9, W.K.1–W.2.3, L.K.1–L.2.6, FL B.E.S.T. ELA.K–2.R, TEKS K.6–2.6, K.9–2.9, VA SOL K.9–2.12, AK, MN, and NE ELA Standards.

  • 6.1Story Elements & Retelling (Pre-K/K Focus + 1st/2nd Scaffold)Included
  • 6.2Literary vs. Informational Text — Reading Different Kinds of BooksIncluded
  • 6.3Asking & Answering Questions — Literal to InferentialIncluded
  • 6.4Text-Dependent Questions & Written Response (1st/2nd Grade Tier)Included
  • 6.5Sentence Writing & Grammar for Young Authors (1st/2nd Grade Tier + K Enrichment)Included

Lynette Munich

Hey there, and welcome. If you're reading this, I'm guessing you're a parent who cares deeply — maybe a little anxiously — about whether your child is on the right track with reading. I know that feeling. Watching a child struggle to connect letters to sounds, or seeing them shut down when a book feels too hard, is one of the hardest things. And on the flip side, if your child is curious and ready and you're not sure how to channel that energy into real reading skills — that's a lot of pressure to carry too.

That's exactly why I built Right Track Sprouts. I wanted to create a school that takes the guesswork completely off your plate. Not a pile of random activities, not a one-size-fits-all workbook — a real, sequenced, research-backed curriculum that starts by finding out where your child actually is, and then builds from there, one joyful step at a time.

Here's what I believe with my whole heart: every single child can learn to read. But they need the right foundations in the right order. Phonemic awareness before phonics. Phonics before fluency. Vocabulary and comprehension woven in throughout — not bolted on at the end. Right Track Sprouts is structured exactly that way, because that's what the science of reading tells us works. And it's wrapped in an environment that celebrates every tiny win, because a child who feels like a reader becomes a reader.

Inside this school, your Pre-K or Kindergarten Sprout will start hearing the music in words, master every letter and sound, and blend their very first words — and feel like a superstar doing it. Your 1st or 2nd grader will tackle digraphs, vowel teams, expressive fluency, rich vocabulary, and text-dependent comprehension questions that actually grow their thinking — all while building the confidence to put their ideas into writing too. These aren't arbitrary skills. These are the building blocks that determine how easily and how joyfully a child reads for the rest of their life.

I know your time is precious, your child is one of a kind, and you're doing something incredible by showing up for their learning this way. Right Track Sprouts is here to make that feel less like a mountain and more like an adventure — one lesson, one sound, one proud little reader at a time. I'm so glad you're here. Let's get growing.
