Master the evidence behind Scripture — the way scholars actually do

If you've spent any time in conversations about the Bible's reliability, you've probably noticed that most of them never quite get to the evidence. They stay at the level of assertion — confident claims on both sides, memorable one-liners, and very little engagement with what historians, archaeologists, and textual scholars have actually spent careers investigating. I know that frustration well, and it's exactly why I built this course.\n\nI want to invite you into a different kind of inquiry — the kind that's willing to sit with a manuscript fragment and ask careful questions about it, that takes archaeology seriously without over-reading what a potsherd can actually prove, that distinguishes between what we know, what we can reasonably infer, and what remains genuinely uncertain. That's not a posture of doubt — it's the posture of honest scholarship, and it's the only foundation on which real intellectual confidence can be built.\n\nIn Scripture & Evidence, we move through the full landscape of the historical case: how the biblical books were written, circulated, and recognized as canon; what the manuscript tradition — including the Dead Sea Scrolls and the earliest New Testament papyri — actually tells us about textual transmission; and what archaeology has illuminated about the world the Bible describes. We don't skip the hard stops. The Exodus, the patriarchal narratives, the historical Jesus, the authorship disputes — we engage each of them with the same methodological care we'd bring to any serious historical question.\n\nI want to be straightforward with you about what this course is and isn't. It isn't a course that will tell you every question has a tidy answer, because some of them don't — at least not yet. What it will give you is a reliable method for evaluating the evidence that exists, the vocabulary to follow and contribute to scholarly discussions, and the intellectual confidence to hold your convictions with integrity rather than anxiety. Whether you are a committed Christian who wants to understand why the historical case is stronger than critics suggest, or a skeptic who wants to examine the evidence without being talked past — this course was designed with your questions in mind.\n\nI'd be glad to work through it with you.
