Command the governance of space

If you have spent years operating in the space sector — running programs, advising on policy, leading engineering teams — you already know that the hardest part of this work is not the technical problem. It is governing the enterprise that contains the technical problem. Accountability structures that hold across mission lifecycle. Regulatory postures that satisfy multiple jurisdictions simultaneously. Risk registers that actually inform board decisions rather than accumulate in a shared drive. That gap — between deep aerospace expertise and genuine executive governance capability — is what this program exists to close.

I built this curriculum because I have seen what happens when that gap is left open. Programs that cannot demonstrate regulatory preparedness to a licensor. Mission assurance processes that exist on paper but collapse under the pressure of a readiness review. Executive teams that understand the spacecraft but cannot explain the governance of it to a board, a regulator, or a partner government. These are not failures of technical knowledge. They are failures of governance infrastructure — and they are entirely preventable.

What you will build in this program is that infrastructure. Not in the abstract. You will construct a Space Governance Roadmap that establishes executive accountability at every level of your organization. You will develop a Mission Assurance Strategy grounded in systems engineering discipline, hazard analysis, and rigorous V&V protocols. You will build and deploy a Space Assurance Scorecard and an Executive KPI Dashboard that give leadership a true picture of organizational performance. And you will produce a board-ready Enterprise Risk Register and governance presentation — documents that communicate, with precision, that your organization is prepared to operate safely, lawfully, and sustainably in the space domain.

The program is taught at the level I would expect from a senior colleague presenting to a program review board. Policy-fluent. Systems-aware. Concrete and defensible. There is no conceptual padding here — every lesson connects directly to a governance outcome you are accountable for producing. The OST and COPUOS are not background reading; they are instruments you will align a legal and ethics framework to. Operational readiness reviews are not a checklist topic; they are a decision discipline you will architect and own.

I also want to be direct about what this program asks of you. The capstone is a five-year Space Governance Initiative presented as a complete portfolio. That means you will be doing real executive work throughout — applying each framework to your actual professional context, stress-testing your assumptions, and producing documents that could, with appropriate adaptation, go in front of real stakeholders. That level of effort is deliberate. A credential that arrives before the work has been done is not worth carrying.
