Arriving: Learning to Truly Settle
Before any meditation technique can take root, students must first learn the foundational skill of genuine settling — releasing the momentum of a busy day and arriving fully in the present moment. This module establishes the essential prerequisites of stillness: a relaxed body, an easeful posture, and a first conscious relationship with the breath. Without this grounding, all later practices lack a stable foundation.
- 1.1The Art of the PauseIncluded
- 1.2Dropping Into Your BodyIncluded
- 1.3Breath as Your First AnchorIncluded
Meeting the Mind: Understanding and Releasing Mental Chatter
With the body settled and the breath established as an anchor, students are ready to face the most common obstacle to presence: the thinking mind. This module builds the cognitive and emotional framework for relating to thoughts skillfully — not suppressing them, not being swept away by them. Students learn to observe mental activity from a stable vantage point and to work constructively with resistance and restlessness, directly addressing the outcome of recognising and releasing mental chatter.
- 2.1How the Mind Works: A Friendly OrientationIncluded
- 2.2Watching Your Thoughts Without Becoming ThemIncluded
- 2.3Working with Resistance and RestlessnessIncluded
Building Your Meditation Practice
With foundational settling skills and a workable relationship to the mind firmly in place, students are now ready to build a formal meditation practice. This module moves from first sits to a repertoire of core techniques, and then — critically — addresses the practical architecture of habit formation so that practice does not dissolve after the course ends. It directly delivers the outcome of developing a consistent daily habit that feels effortless rather than obligatory.
- 3.1Your First Five-Minute SitsIncluded
- 3.2Core Techniques: Breath, Body, and SoundIncluded
- 3.3Making It Stick: Habit Architecture for Real LifeIncluded
The Quick Daily Reset
This module equips students with fast, portable tools for recovering calm in the middle of a busy, stressful day — without needing a cushion, a quiet room, or ten minutes to spare. It directly delivers the outcome of using 3–5 minute reset practices at any point during the day. The module also thoughtfully extends reset skills into relational contexts, an important real-world application that was present in the original draft and is fully preserved here.
- 4.1The 3-Minute Reset FrameworkIncluded
- 4.2Reset Tools for Every MomentIncluded
- 4.3Resetting in Relationship: Staying Present with OthersIncluded
Deepening Presence: Inhabiting Your Whole Essence
With a solid meditation practice and a reset toolkit in place, students are ready to move beyond technique into the fuller, more expansive dimension of presence the original brief described as 'being present with your whole essence.' This module cultivates open awareness — presence that is not anchored to a single object but rests in spacious, undivided attention — and introduces emotions as doorways into deeper presence rather than obstacles to it. This module was correctly placed in the original draft as a deepening layer; it is sequenced here after the student already has reliable stabilising tools.
- 5.1Presence Beyond the Breath: Open AwarenessIncluded
- 5.2Emotions as Doorways, Not ObstaclesIncluded
Your Personal Stillness Practice for Life
The final module synthesises everything students have learned into a personalised, sustainable lifelong stillness practice. Students design their own inner toolkit, establish a maintenance rhythm, and — critically — learn to carry stillness off the cushion and into the texture of ordinary daily life. This module directly delivers the outcome of building a personal inner toolkit of stillness rituals that sustain wellbeing long-term. A new capstone integration lesson has been added to ensure students consolidate and celebrate their full journey before departing.
- 6.1Designing Your Personal Inner ToolkitIncluded
- 6.2Living Presently: Stillness Beyond the CushionIncluded
- 6.3Integration and Celebration: Carrying the Practice ForwardIncluded

If you're reading this, I imagine you already know that feeling — the kind of tired that sleep doesn't fix. The mental loop that starts before your feet hit the floor in the morning. The quiet wish, somewhere underneath it all, for just a moment of genuine stillness.
I created Still & Present because I know that wish intimately, and because I also know that most of what we're told about meditation makes it feel harder than it needs to be. The idea that you need a dedicated space, or a perfectly quiet mind, or thirty minutes you simply don't have — it keeps so many people from ever truly beginning. And that breaks my heart a little, because the doorway to stillness is so much closer than any of that.
What I've learned, and what this whole course is built around, is that presence isn't something you achieve. It's something you return to. Again and again, in small moments, with gentleness. The practices you'll find inside — from the very first lesson on learning to pause, all the way through to designing your own personal stillness toolkit — are practical, embodied, and built for the life you actually have. Not an imagined, quieter, less complicated life. This one.
I want to be honest with you: I'm not going to promise that stillness will make everything easy. But I will tell you that knowing how to genuinely settle — how to drop into your body, release the chatter, and find your breath as an anchor — changes something fundamental about how you move through a day. The stress doesn't always disappear, but your relationship to it does. And that shifts everything.
You don't need to be a meditator to begin this course. You don't need to be calm, or disciplined, or sure this will work for you. You just need to be willing to pause for a moment. I'll meet you right there, and we'll find our way forward together — unhurried, one breath at a time.
