Know Your Body — Shape, Proportion & Fit
Before anything else, women need an accurate, compassionate picture of their own body — its shape, its proportions, and how clothing is currently fitting (or not fitting) it. This foundational module removes guesswork and builds the self-knowledge every subsequent styling decision rests on. Sequenced first because body-shape literacy directly informs color placement, capsule choices, and outfit formulas in every later module.
- 1.1Identify Your Body Shape With ConfidenceIncluded
- 1.2The Rules of Proportion & Visual BalanceIncluded
- 1.3Fit Is Everything — Reading & Fixing a GarmentIncluded
Discover Your Color Season & Build Your Palette
Color is the single most powerful (and most misunderstood) tool in a woman's wardrobe. Placed second so that students immediately apply color knowledge to the wardrobe audit and capsule build that follow. This module moves from theory to personal discovery to practical daily use, ensuring color analysis never stays abstract.
- 2.1How Color Analysis Works — Undertones & SeasonsIncluded
- 2.2Confirm Your Season & Map Your Personal PaletteIncluded
- 2.3Using Color Strategically — Patterns, Prints & the Power of Near-Face ColorIncluded
Wardrobe Audit — Clarity, Curation & a Fresh Start
With body-shape knowledge and a personal color palette now established, students are equipped to look at every item they own through an informed lens. This module is placed third so the audit uses real criteria — not vague feelings — to make keep/alter/release decisions. A gap-analysis lesson is added here (missing from the draft) to bridge directly into capsule planning.
- 3.1The Honest Wardrobe EditIncluded
- 3.2Fit for 50+ — Dressing the Body You Have TodayIncluded
- 3.3Gap Analysis — What's Missing From Your WardrobeIncluded
Build Your Capsule Wardrobe
Students now use their audited Keep pile and gap-analysis shopping list to architect a complete, personalized capsule wardrobe. This module is sequenced after the audit so every capsule decision is grounded in what students actually own and genuinely need — not a generic list. The accessories lesson is retained and expanded, as finishing touches are often what separate a good outfit from a great one.
- 4.1Capsule Wardrobe Foundations — The Architecture of VersatilityIncluded
- 4.2Gap Filling — Planning Smart PurchasesIncluded
- 4.3The Power of Accessories & Finishing TouchesIncluded
Shop Smarter — In-Store, Online & On a Budget
Students are now equipped with a specific shopping brief, a palette card, and body-shape knowledge — making this the right moment to learn shopping strategies. Placed fifth so students shop with a plan, not browse aimlessly. The quality-reading lesson is moved to the end of this module (not the middle) so students learn where to shop before they learn what to inspect.
- 5.1In-Store Shopping StrategiesIncluded
- 5.2Online Shopping — Finding Fit & Avoiding ReturnsIncluded
- 5.3Quality Over Quantity — Reading a Garment Before You BuyIncluded
Dress With Intention — Outfits for Every Occasion
The capstone module brings everything together into daily, practical, joyful dressing. Students learn reliable outfit formulas built on their own capsule, style themselves for every real-life context, and close the course by articulating — and committing to — their personal signature style. A new 'Style Confidence & Maintenance' lesson is added to ensure the results last beyond the course.
- 6.1Outfit Formulas That Always WorkIncluded
- 6.2Dressing for Specific Occasions — From Everyday to Special EventsIncluded
- 6.3Your Signature Style — Staying Stylish, Current & True to YourselfIncluded
- 6.4Style Confidence & Long-Term Wardrobe MaintenanceIncluded

Nina Hershberger
If you've ever stood in front of a wardrobe full of clothes and thought, "I have nothing to wear" — I want you to know, I have been exactly there. That mix of frustration and quiet defeat is so real, and it's something I hear from women in their 50s and 60s all the time. Somewhere along the way, the style rules we thought we knew stopped applying, our bodies changed, and nobody gave us the updated handbook. So we guessed. And a lot of the time, we got it wrong — and blamed ourselves for it.
That's the thing I want to change for you. Because here's what I know after spending years helping women navigate style at midlife: looking polished, vibrant, and genuinely like yourself is not about having a certain figure, a designer budget, or a gift for fashion. It's about having the right framework. When you know your shape, you stop fighting your body and start dressing it beautifully. When you know your colors, getting dressed in the morning stops feeling like a gamble. When your wardrobe is curated and intentional, every single piece in it works — and that changes everything.
I built Style After 50 to be the practical, girlfriend-to-girlfriend style education I wish someone had handed me. Not vague inspiration — real tools. We're going to work through your body shape, your personal color season, your existing wardrobe, and your shopping habits, module by module, until you have a complete style system that's yours. One that works for your real life — whether that's school pick-ups, work meetings, weekend travel, or a special occasion that deserves a great outfit.
I also want to gently address the voice that might be whispering: "Is it too late for me to care about this?" Or "Isn't this a bit vain?" Friend, absolutely not. The way you dress affects how you feel in your own skin every single day. Confidence is not vanity — it's a foundation. And you are not too old, too large, too small, or too anything to deserve to love what you wear.
Come and join us. Your best-dressed chapter isn't behind you — it's just getting started.
