A note from your teacher
David Clilverd
Maybe you've picked up a phrasebook, downloaded an app, or sat through a class that left you more confused than when you started. Maybe you can read English well enough but the moment someone speaks to you — a fast-talking airport officer, a friendly stranger at a café, a job interviewer on a video call — your mind goes blank and your heart races.
I know that feeling. And I know it has nothing to do with intelligence. It has everything to do with how English is usually taught: as a system of rules to memorise rather than a living, breathing way to connect with other human beings.
I wrote English: The Global Link because I believe something simple and profound: there are more than 7,000 languages on this earth and more than 5,000 religions, but kindness speaks louder than any of them. English just happens to be the bridge that most of the world has agreed to meet on. And you deserve to walk across that bridge with your head held high.
This school is not about making you sound like a BBC newsreader. It is about giving you the words, the rhythm, and the confidence to say what you mean — warmly, clearly, and without apology. You will learn through real conversations, real scenarios, and real human moments, because that is the only kind of English that actually sticks.
You don't need to be perfect. You need to be present, kind, and willing to try. I'll take care of the rest. Come as you are — and let's connect.
