The Name Israel: What It Means and Why It Matters
Before exploring how the Church inherits the name 'Israel,' students must understand what the name actually means, where it came from, and why its original bestowal on Jacob was always pointing beyond one ethnic lineage. This foundational module sets the biblical and linguistic groundwork for everything that follows.
- 1.1Jacob's Night at Peniel: The Wrestling That Changed EverythingIncluded
- 1.2One Man, One Nation, One Promise: The Scope of the NameIncluded
- 1.3Israel in the Prophets: When God Looked Beyond the BloodlineIncluded
The Covenant Thread: From Abraham to the Church
This module traces the single, unbroken covenant thread that runs from Abraham's call in Genesis 12 through to the New Testament Church. Students will see that the Abrahamic covenant — centred on faith, not flesh — was always designed to culminate in a multi-ethnic, Spirit-born people.
- 2.1Abraham: The Father of All Who BelieveIncluded
- 2.2The Two Covenants: Sinai and PromiseIncluded
- 2.3The Seed Is One: Christ as the Fulcrum of the CovenantIncluded
Paul's Doctrine of Spiritual Israel
This is the theological core of the course. Students engage directly and deeply with Paul's three primary texts — Galatians, Romans, and Ephesians — to build a confident, nuanced understanding of the Church as the true spiritual Israel of God, able to articulate and defend this teaching in plain language.
- 3.1The Israel of God: Galatians 6:16 UnpackedIncluded
- 3.2Not All Israel Is Israel: Romans 9–11 in Plain LanguageIncluded
- 3.3One New Humanity: Ephesians 2 and the Wall That Came DownIncluded
- 3.4The Circumcision of the Heart: Philippians 3 and Romans 2Included
Old and New Covenants: Continuity Without Contradiction
Many believers are confused or even intimidated by the relationship between the Old and New Covenants. This module equips students to articulate a clear, coherent, biblically grounded position — honouring the Old Testament fully while understanding how the New Covenant fulfils and surpasses it in Christ.
- 4.1Fulfilment, Not Abolition: What Jesus Actually SaidIncluded
- 4.2Types and Shadows: Reading the Old Testament Through ChristIncluded
- 4.3The Law Written on the Heart: Living Under the New CovenantIncluded
Love Is the Healer: The Fulfilment of the Law in Practice
This is the experiential and practical heart of the course — and the direct link to the book's subtitle. Students learn that the hallmark of the true Israel of God is love: love as the fulfilment of the law (Romans 13:8–10), love as the identifier of Christ's disciples (John 13:35), and love as the daily healing practice of covenant life.
- 5.1Love as the Fulfilment of the Law: Romans 13:8–10Included
- 5.2Love as the Mark of the True Israel: John 13 and 1 JohnIncluded
- 5.3Love Is the Healer: Covenant Love as Spiritual and Communal MedicineIncluded
Leading Others Into Covenant Identity
The final module equips students to move from personal understanding to confident leadership — able to teach, facilitate, and guide others through the truths of this course in Bible studies, small groups, and personal discipleship conversations, with grace, clarity, and love as the hallmark.
- 6.1How to Teach the True Israel Doctrine Without Causing ConfusionIncluded
- 6.2Designing and Leading a Covenant Identity Bible StudyIncluded
- 6.3Living as the True Israel: A Personal Covenant CommitmentIncluded

David Clilverd
I know what it feels like to sit with a Bible open and sense that there is a conversation happening just beneath the surface of the text — one that your church tradition never quite let you into.
For years I wrestled with the same questions so many believers carry quietly: If the promises were made to Israel, what does that mean for me? Where do I actually stand in God's story? I searched commentaries, listened to sermons, read theologians on both sides of the debate. And then Paul's letters stopped me in my tracks. Not with complexity — but with clarity. The Apostle had already answered every question I was asking. The Church, he wrote, is the Israel of God (Galatians 6:16). We are Abraham's seed and heirs according to the promise (Galatians 3:29). The name wrestled from heaven by Jacob at the ford of the Jabbok belongs to all who prevail with God through faith.
That revelation changed how I read every page of Scripture. It changed how I prayed. And it changed how I treated people — because once you understand that your identity is rooted in an unbreakable covenant of love, you stop striving and start giving. Love, Paul tells us, is the fulfilment of the whole law. Love is not a soft add-on to good doctrine. Love is the doctrine. It is the healer.
I wrote Love Is The Healer to share that framework in book form. This school exists to walk you through it step by step — at your own pace, with room to ask questions, sit with the passages, and let the truths take root. I am not here to win an argument. I am here to help you stand in your full inheritance and carry it into the world with grace.
If you are ready to move from confusion to confidence, from disconnection to deep belonging in God's covenant story — I warmly invite you to join me inside.
