"I don't teach people how to be happy — I teach them how to be honest about what actually matters, and then help them build a life around that."

Reclaim Your Power of Focus

A lot of people are under the impression that things will only change in their lives if they find themselves with their back against the wall. What they're really doing is looking for excuse after excuse to avoid lifting a finger to change their circumstances. Real focus is never desperate. Don't think that it's some sort of magical superpower that you discover at the last minute.

  • 1.1Real Focus is Never DesperateIncluded
2

Rediscover The Eternal Now

When you practice meditation and mindfulness, you tap into the power of The Eternal Now Instead of constantly trying to zip from one mental place to another, you realize that there's power where you are. It doesn't matter how stuck you may feel, if you are able to tap into the power of The Eternal Now, you can use the present moment to achieve important changes in your life You break away from the old and familiar game of kicking the can of your happiness down the road.

  • 2.1Meditation Reveals the power of the Eternal NowIncluded
3

Remember That the Big Picture is the Eternal

Did you know that everything in the world, both seen and unseen, works in duality? This is not an empty and shallow mental exercise. The Greeks got it partially right. The problem is, the Greeks focused primarily on the ‘good things,’ the ideals, the forms, the essence. It is a binary world In fact, the Western mind has historically viewed the other side of these equations as suspect or weak or somehow untrustworthy. Do you see how this works?

  • 3.1Everything Works in DualityIncluded

Your Mental Self-Reclamation Blueprint

This training is set up to use the power of mindfulness and mental focus to help people reclaim their lives.
How come? You have to reclaim yourself because nobody else is going to do it for you. You have to do this yourself. Please pay attention to the blueprint below. I will talk about the following self-reclamation steps.

  • 4.1Self-reclamation stepsIncluded
5

Zero in on Your Life's Objective

Take a Mental Inventory. At any given second, what are you thinking about? Do you see a pattern? When you do a mental inventory, it’s as if you brush the fur of your dog. The same applies to your mind.

  • 5.1Take a mental InventoryIncluded
6

Get Real

Do an attitude detox.
Memory is one thing, attitude is another. The worst part of all of this is if you feel like some sort of victim, it’s too easy to excuse yourself to be really harsh or even cruel to other people. Given what’s happening in your life, are there any other ways to interpret what’s going on? My job does give me a paycheck.

  • 6.1Do an attitude detoxIncluded
7

Get Quiet

One common way people trip themselves up and interrupt their ability to focus so clearly that they turn their thoughts into reality involves editing. Whatever the case may be you're engaged in one form of editing or another. You quickly realize that there’s really nothing to apologize for. Let them flow. It may be scary at first but that's a small price to pay for the power that will arise from clarity.

  • 7.1Stop Editing Your ThoughtsIncluded
8

Refocus

This mindfulness technique was originally formulated for US Navy SEALs looking to relax during highly sensitive combat missions. The breathe-hold-breathe technique enables Navy SEALs to quickly relax right before they make a very important action. Whatever the case may be they need to relax so they can focus right here, right now. How does it work? With enough slow repetition, you feel really, really relaxed and, most importantly, you feel focused. The best part to all of this is that you can do this very quickly.

  • 8.1Breathe-Hold-BreatheIncluded
9

Scale

Once you have achieved a tremendous amount of peace and focus thanks to the art of learning how to be quiet, you can then start to live with integrity. The good news is when everything lines up, every day is an adventure.
Please note that this happiness and joy are not something that you enjoy in the distant future or after you achieve certain things. From inner peace comes real confidence because everything lines up.

  • 9.1Living with IntegrityIncluded
10

Conclusion

Living a life of confidence and competence thanks to the power of integrity takes time, focus, and energy. This training lays out a solid blueprint that anybody can follow to reclaim their lives. It doesn't matter what your past looks like.

Who it's for

Is this you?

The quiet achiever

She's built the career and the life that looked right on paper — and is finally ready to ask whether it actually feels right to her.

The mid-career pivot

He's competent, respected, and oddly restless — and needs tools to figure out what 'meaningful work' actually means for him before making any big moves.

The empty-nester

With the kids finally grown, she has the space to ask who she is beyond her roles — and the courage to design what comes next.

The self-help skeptic

She's read enough books to know the clichés, and is looking for something grounded, honest, and actually usable in real life.

The high-functioning drifter

He's disciplined, successful, and quietly aware that his habits and routines are optimized for a life he never consciously chose.

The relationship rebuilder

She's ready to invest in the connections that matter most — and needs practical tools for presence, honest communication, and setting boundaries with grace.

A note from your teacher

Jean C. Lazure

Jean C. Lazure

I want to start with something that might sound familiar.

You're not burned out, exactly. You're not in crisis. But there's something — a low hum of it — the sense that the life you're living and the life you imagined for yourself have drifted apart somewhere along the way, and you're not entirely sure when it happened or how to close that gap. You're thoughtful enough to notice it. You're busy enough that you keep putting off doing anything about it.

I built The Contented Life for that feeling. Not for people who need rescuing, but for people who are ready to be more deliberate — about what they value, how they spend their days, how they show up in their relationships, and what they actually want their life to look like from the inside.

What you'll find here isn't a system, a hack, or a five-step formula. It's a genuine curriculum — rooted in psychology, philosophy, and the kind of hard-won practical wisdom that only comes from thinking carefully about how human beings actually change. We start by getting honest about your values (not the ones you inherited or performed, but the ones that are genuinely yours) and build from there: a personal vision, habits that align with what matters, the emotional tools to handle difficulty without losing yourself, relationships that nourish rather than drain, and a working understanding of contentment that doesn't ask you to stop wanting things.

I know that some of what I've just described might sound like things you've tried before. Maybe you've read the books, downloaded the apps, made the vision board. I'm not going to tell you those things were wrong — but I am going to suggest that the reason they didn't quite stick is probably that they were solving individual pieces of a larger puzzle. This school holds the whole picture.

The lessons here are unhurried. Each one asks something of you — a little reflection, a little honesty, a little courage to sit with what you find. In return, I promise to be straight with you: about what the research actually shows, about what's hard, and about the fact that there's no finish line to living intentionally. There's just the ongoing, quietly wonderful practice of doing it.

If you're ready for that — if you're ready to stop drifting and start living as though your life belongs to you — then I'm glad you're here. Let's begin.
