Finish your dissertation. No more circles.
The Dissertation Room is a weekly mentorship and accountability community for ABD scholars who are ready to identify their real bottleneck, decode committee feedback, and make steady, ethical progress — one clear weekly priority at a time.

"The scholars who finish aren't always the most brilliant in the room — they're the ones who always know their next clear step, and that's exactly what I'm here to help you find."
— Dr. Genoa Occhipinti

Who it's for
Is this you?
The stalled PhD candidate
She passed her quals two years ago and is drowning in revision loops, needing a system that tells her exactly what to fix first.
The full-time EdD practitioner
He leads a school district by day and writes in stolen hours — he needs a weekly structure that works around a schedule with no margin.
The DNP scholar between shifts
She's completing clinical hours while finishing her doctoral project and needs a momentum system that doesn't require marathon writing sessions.
The feedback-paralyzed scholar
He got a dense round of committee notes and can't tell what's critical versus cosmetic — he needs a framework to decode and prioritize before his next meeting.
The alignment-confused writer
Her chair keeps sending her back to her problem statement, and she needs to understand the problem–purpose–research question connection before one more revision.
The near-defense candidate
He's close to the finish line but anxiety is slowing him down — he needs the defense checklist, ethical grounding, and a community to help him advance with confidence.

A note from your teacher
Dr. Genoa Occhipinti
If you're reading this, there's a good chance you've been ABD longer than you planned. Maybe you got feedback that sent you back to page one — again. Maybe your chair is responsive but busy, and the two weeks between meetings have a way of disappearing. Maybe you're finishing a clinical shift or a school board meeting and then trying to summon the intellectual energy to write Chapter Three. You're not stuck because you're not smart enough. You're stuck because nobody taught you how to manage this particular stage of scholarship.
I built The Dissertation Room because I kept seeing the same pattern: capable, credentialed, genuinely dedicated scholars spinning in revision loops — not because their research was flawed, but because they had no system for deciding what to work on, how to read their committee's signals, or how to hold themselves accountable between meetings. The problem was never the dissertation. It was the absence of a clear, repeatable process.
What we do in this room is precise and practical. We start by identifying your actual bottleneck — because alignment problems look different from writing problems, and methods confusion looks different from both, and treating every issue as equally urgent is how ABD years quietly become ABD decades. From there, we work through how committees communicate (and what they actually mean), how to sort feedback into what requires immediate action and what can wait, and how to formulate the right question so your next chair conversation moves you forward instead of sideways.
The curriculum follows the arc of your real work: proposal through defense, with explicit attention to the ethical obligations that don't go away just because you're under pressure. We build in a weekly structure — a priority, an action, a stopping point — because open-ended to-do lists are where dissertations go to stall. And we do all of this inside a community of peers who are navigating the same terrain, so the particular loneliness of ABD life has somewhere to go.
I will not tell you this is easy. I will tell you it is doable — with the right structure, the right questions, and the right room around you. If you're ready to stop revising in circles and start making deliberate, defensible progress, this is where that starts.
