I know exactly where you are right now — because I've been there too.

You're not someone who lacks ambition. You've read the books, listened to the podcasts, maybe even bought the fancy journal. You start strong, feel genuinely excited, and then somewhere in the second week the habit quietly disappears — and the worst part is you're not even sure exactly when it happened. And so you chalk it up to willpower. Or discipline. Or just not being "that kind of person." That story is wrong, and it's keeping you stuck.

Here's what I've come to understand after going deep into the behavioral science research: habits don't fail because of character flaws. They fail because of system design flaws. The cue was fuzzy. The routine was too ambitious. The reward was too distant. The environment was working against you. The tracking system was all-or-nothing, so one missed day felt like the whole thing was ruined. These are engineering problems — and engineering problems have engineering solutions.

That's what The Habit Lab is. I built it because I was frustrated with the gap between what the research actually says and what most habit advice actually teaches. The science on behavior change is genuinely good — it's clear, it's practical, and it works. But most of the time it gets buried in 300-page books or watered down into vague platitudes. I wanted to take the real frameworks — the cue–routine–reward loop, environment design, friction auditing, disruption recovery — and translate them into a structured system any sharp, busy adult could actually implement in their real life.

This isn't a course about motivation. I'm not going to pump you up and send you off hoping for the best. We're going to figure out exactly why your past habits collapsed, redesign your environment so good defaults are the path of least resistance, build a habit stack that fits around what you already do, and put in place a recovery system for when life gets messy — because it will. You'll leave with a personalized system, not a borrowed one.

If you're ready to stop relying on inspiration and start relying on design, I'm glad you're here. Let's build something that actually lasts.
