Who it's for

Is this you?

The overlooked individual contributor

She has the ideas and does the work — but keeps getting talked over in meetings and wants to finally command the attention she's earned.

The newly promoted manager

He just got his first direct reports and needs to project authority and composure without feeling like he's faking it.

The mid-level professional stalling out

She's been at the same level for two years and suspects her communication habits — not her skills — are what's holding her back.

The technical expert who struggles to influence

He knows the data cold but loses the room the moment he has to speak without slides — and knows it's costing him credibility with leadership.

The high-potential early career professional

She's been told she has 'executive potential' and wants to start closing the gap between where she is and how she comes across — now, not in five years.

The calm professional who needs to own it

He's composed and well-liked but hasn't learned to turn that calm into visible authority — and wants to stop being mistaken for a supporting player.

John Bentley

I want to tell you something that took me a long time to say out loud: most of the people who get passed over for opportunities, left out of key conversations, or written off as "not quite ready" — they're not failing because of their intelligence or their output. They're failing because of signals they don't even know they're sending.

A slight upward lilt at the end of a statement that should be declarative. Walking into a room and immediately looking for permission. Saying "um, so I just wanted to quickly..." before making a point that actually deserves the room's full attention. Giving a meandering answer to a tough question because no one ever taught you how to buy yourself three seconds of composure and structure a response under pressure. These are the habits that quietly close doors — and they're almost never what the feedback says, because most managers don't know how to name them either.

That's what The Presence Edge is built around. Six disciplines, eight behavioral shifts, all of them grounded in the specific moments that make or break how you're perceived at work. Not at some hypothetical conference or in a big-stage keynote. In your Tuesday morning standup. In the moment a senior leader asks you a question you weren't expecting. In the way you enter a room before the meeting starts and what that already signals about whether you belong there.

I built this curriculum because I've seen too many smart, capable professionals spend years waiting to be recognized — while someone with half their ability but twice their presence walked right past them. I've also seen what happens when someone finally stops waiting and starts making targeted changes to a handful of specific habits. It's fast. It's visible. And it works at every level.

You don't need to transform your personality. You need to stop sending the signals that are quietly costing you the room — and start sending the ones that say: I'm prepared, I'm composed, and I belong at this table. That's what we're going to build together. I'm glad you're here. Let's get to work.
