Heather Johnson

If you're reading this, I already know something about where you are right now. You're pregnant, and something has shattered. And on top of the grief and the rage and the shock, there's this other voice — the one asking what this is doing to your baby. That voice is not irrational. It's asking exactly the right question. And I want to answer it honestly with you.

I created Thriving Through It because I kept seeing the same gap: pregnant women going through relational trauma who were getting either generic mental health advice that didn't account for pregnancy, or prenatal care that didn't account for trauma. You were falling through the middle. You deserved something built specifically for what you are actually living through — something that takes your biology seriously, takes your emotions seriously, and treats you like the intelligent, capable person you are, even on the days you don't feel like one.

Here's what I need you to know: the stress response you are experiencing right now is real, measurable, and it does reach your baby through the placenta. I'm not going to soften that, because I think you deserve the truth and because the truth comes with a follow-up: it is also responsive to intervention. The things you do, the practices you build, the emotions you learn to process rather than suppress — these register in your body chemistry, and that matters for both of you. That's not a platitude. That's physiology. And it's the foundation of everything we do in this course.

What we cover is practical and sequenced. We start with biology so you understand what's happening. Then we move into your emotional landscape — naming what you're feeling, finding where it lives in your body, understanding why suppressing it makes things physiologically worse. Then we get into the tools: breathwork, somatic grounding, mindfulness adapted for pregnancy trauma, journaling protocols designed for betrayal grief specifically. And we finish by building your Maternal Happiness Plan — sleep, nutrition, social support, boundaries, daily practices — something personalised to your life and your capacity right now.

I will not ask you to forgive on anyone's timeline, to stay positive, or to minimize what happened to you. I will ask you to be honest with yourself, to show up even when it's hard, and to let the science and the practices do their work. You are not too far gone. You are not too late. You are exactly where you need to be to start this. And your baby is lucky to have a mother who, in the middle of all of this, is still looking for a way forward. Come find it with me.
