Nina Hershberger
If you've been sitting on a piece of land — or staring at that back acre from your kitchen window — and thinking "I should do something with this," I want you to know that feeling is exactly right. You should. The problem isn't motivation. It's that the moment you start researching tiny homes, the path forward gets murkier, not clearer. THOWs versus ADUs. Slab versus pier. Solar versus grid tie-in. Permits, setbacks, deed restrictions. It's a lot — and most of the information out there is either too vague to act on, or buried in forums where half the advice doesn't apply to your state.
I built Tiny Home Academy because I kept having the same conversation with landowners who were smart, motivated, and completely stuck. Not because the project was too hard for them — but because nobody had laid out the decisions in a logical order and explained what actually matters at each step. That's what this course does. It takes you through the whole journey the way a knowledgeable friend would: honestly, in plain language, with real costs and real trade-offs rather than best-case-scenario numbers.
We start with the foundation of the whole project — your goal. Personal retreat, multigenerational living, or rental income? That single answer shapes which build type makes sense, what your utility plan should look like, and how your interior needs to function. From there, we work through zoning and permits (the part everyone dreads, and the part that's a lot more manageable once you know what to look for), placement and orientation on your land, foundation options, utilities, interior design, and — if you want it — turning the whole thing into a short-term rental that earns.
I won't pretend there are no hard parts. Permit processes are slow. Build costs have real ranges and real variables. Off-grid systems involve real trade-offs. What I can promise is that you'll understand all of it clearly enough to make good decisions — and that you won't be walking into any of it blind. You'll know what questions to ask, what to watch out for, and when you're being steered in the wrong direction.
If you own land and you're ready to stop researching in circles and start making a real plan, this is the place to do it. I'm glad you found it. Let's get started.
