1

Foundations of Transformational Coaching

Establishes the conceptual and philosophical bedrock of the entire programme. Students learn what genuinely distinguishes transformational coaching from performance or behavioural coaching, understand the architecture of identity and self-narrative, and begin cultivating the mindset required to facilitate deep change. This module is the essential prerequisite for all later technical and methodological work.

  • 1.1What Transformational Coaching Actually IsIncluded
  • 1.2Identity, Narrative, and the Architecture of the SelfIncluded
  • 1.3The Transformational Coach's MindsetIncluded
  • 1.4The Coaching Relationship — Contracting and Trust-BuildingIncluded
2

Powerful Questioning and Deepening Client Awareness

Develops the core technical skill set of the transformational coach: the ability to ask questions that move clients beneath the surface of their presenting issue into genuine insight, self-awareness, and new possibility. Students work across three distinct questioning traditions — Socratic, somatic, and systemic — and develop the deep listening capability that makes all three traditions land with maximum impact.

  • 2.1Deep Listening — The Art of Hearing What Isn't SaidIncluded
  • 2.2Socratic Questioning and Assumption ExcavationIncluded
  • 2.3Somatic Awareness and Body-Based InquiryIncluded
  • 2.4Systemic and Relational QuestioningIncluded
3

Working with Limiting Beliefs, Internal Parts, and Core Narratives

Equips students with three evidence-based modalities for facilitating identity-level change: CBT-informed cognitive restructuring, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy principles, and Internal Family Systems. Students learn each modality on its own terms before developing the integrative clinical reasoning to choose between them. Directly builds on the identity architecture established in Module 1 and the questioning skills from Module 2.

  • 3.1Cognitive Restructuring and the CBT-Informed Coaching ToolkitIncluded
  • 3.2ACT Principles — Psychological Flexibility and Values-Based CoachingIncluded
  • 3.3Internal Family Systems — Working with PartsIncluded
  • 3.4Integrating Modalities — When to Use WhatIncluded
4

Coaching Presence, Regulation, and Holding the Container

Addresses the inner game of the transformational coach — the capacity to remain regulated, grounded, and fully present when clients bring intense emotion, resistance, or crisis. Students understand the neuroscience behind co-regulation and psychological safety, develop personal regulation practices, and learn to use their own embodied presence as a therapeutic instrument. This module deepens the mindset foundations from Module 1 and directly enables the safe delivery of the modalities in Module 3.

  • 4.1The Neuroscience of Presence and SafetyIncluded
  • 4.2Staying Grounded Under Emotional PressureIncluded
  • 4.3Presence as Practice — Developing Your Inner CoachIncluded
  • 4.4Managing Ruptures and Repairs in the Coaching RelationshipIncluded
5

Ethics, Boundaries, and Sustainable Professional Practice

Ensures that all the power and depth developed in earlier modules is exercised within a robust ethical and professional container. Covers scope of practice, contracting, confidentiality, safeguarding, and the systemic self-care required to sustain a transformational coaching practice long-term. Placed before the methodology module so that students design their signature practice from the outset on ethically sound foundations.

  • 5.1Scope of Practice — Coaching, Counselling, and the Referral DecisionIncluded
  • 5.2Contracts, Consent, and ConfidentialityIncluded
  • 5.3Boundaries, Self-Care, and Practitioner SustainabilityIncluded
  • 5.4Navigating Power, Diversity, and Culturally Responsive CoachingIncluded
6

Building Your Signature Coaching Methodology

Synthesises all prior learning into a cohesive, ownable coaching methodology that each student can articulate, package, and take to market. Covers framework design, positioning and differentiation, practice infrastructure, and the long-term professional development commitments that sustain both quality and growth. Sequenced last because students cannot authentically design their methodology until they have mastered the foundations, techniques, modalities, presence, and ethics that will constitute it.

  • 6.1Designing Your Transformational Coaching FrameworkIncluded
  • 6.2Articulating and Positioning Your MethodologyIncluded
  • 6.3Packaging, Pricing, and Practice InfrastructureIncluded
  • 6.4Ongoing Development — Supervision, CPD, and Growing as a CoachIncluded

Who it's for

Is this you?

Aspiring Life Coaches

You want to build your practice on something more rigorous than goal-setting frameworks — this gives you the evidence-based foundation and a signature methodology to launch with confidence.

Experienced Coaches Levelling Up

You've been coaching for years but feel there's a ceiling to how deep you can go — this curriculum fills the theoretical gaps and integrates the modalities that unlock genuine identity-level change.

Executive Coaches

Your clients are high-performing, but the real blockers are internal — learning to work with limiting beliefs, internal parts, and core narratives lets you create breakthroughs, not just better quarters.

Therapists Adding Coaching

You already understand depth psychology — this course shows you how to apply coaching modalities with clear scope-of-practice boundaries so you can expand your offer without crossing professional lines.

Wellness & Health Coaches

Behaviour change stalls when identity doesn't shift — you'll learn to work at the level of narrative and belief so your clients' transformation outlasts the programme.

Leaders Who Coach Their Teams

You're already mentoring and developing people — this gives you the questioning techniques, relational skills, and ethical grounding to do it with real rigour and lasting impact.

Diana Ashworth

If you've been coaching for any length of time, you probably already know the feeling I'm describing — the session where something almost happened. Where you could sense there was something deeper underneath what your client was saying, something more important than the goal they'd put on the agenda, and you weren't quite sure how to get there. So you asked a decent question, got a reasonable answer, and moved on. And the following week, nothing had really changed.

I've been there. Most honest coaches have. And I don't think the problem is effort — coaches are among the most well-intentioned professionals I've ever met. The problem is that most coach training teaches process without teaching depth. It teaches you how to run a session, but not how to work with the identity-level structures — the narratives, the internal parts, the core beliefs — that are quietly running your client's life from underneath the surface.

That's the gap The Coaching Shift was built to close. This curriculum is the result of years spent studying what actually moves people — not just to better habits or clearer goals, but to genuine, durable change in how they see themselves and how they move through the world. It draws on the best of evidence-based psychology — CBT, ACT, Internal Family Systems, somatic inquiry — and integrates it with the kind of relational depth and presence that can't be reduced to a technique. Because real transformation doesn't happen in a framework. It happens in the space between two people when trust is high, presence is real, and the right question lands at the right moment.

I also want to be honest about something that a lot of coaching courses sidestep: this work requires something of you, not just your clients. Holding a coaching container under emotional pressure, working with someone's core narrative without projecting your own, staying regulated when the session gets uncomfortable — these are practitioner skills that take deliberate development. This course takes that seriously. There's an entire module on presence, regulation, and what it actually means to be the kind of coach your clients need you to be.

And then there's the practical reality: coaching is a crowded field, and "I help people reach their potential" is not a positioning strategy. The final module walks you through designing, articulating, and packaging a signature methodology that reflects what you actually do — so you can communicate your value clearly, charge accordingly, and build a practice with a professional identity you're proud of.

This is rigorous work. It will challenge some things you thought you knew. But if you're ready to stop working at the surface and start creating the kind of change that actually lasts — I'd genuinely love to guide you through it.
