Write stories built for the scroll
Turn your long-form storytelling instincts into vertical-native craft — hooks that stop the scroll in two seconds, micro-beat pacing that keeps readers swiping, and a repeatable system that works on TikTok, Instagram Stories, and beyond.

"Your long-form instincts are an asset — you just need the translation layer, and that's exactly what I'm here to teach you."— SA Brown

SA Brown
If you're a writer who's spent years getting good at the long game — crafting ledes that earn their keep, building tension across thousands of words, threading a scene with the kind of detail that only lands after a reader has trusted you for a while — then you already know the sting of opening Instagram or TikTok and thinking: how does any of that translate here?
It doesn't. Not directly. And that's not a failure of your craft. It's a genuine translation problem, and it's one I've spent a lot of time working through myself. Vertical storytelling isn't dumbed-down writing. It's a different discipline — with its own vocabulary, its own rhythm, its own version of tension and payoff. Once you see it that way, the skills you already have become a serious advantage. Most people making content on these platforms don't think like writers. You do. You just need the framework to make that thinking work at scroll speed.
That's what I built Vertical Story Lab to do. Everything in this school comes from hands-on craft work: figuring out what actually makes someone stop scrolling in the first two seconds, what keeps them moving through every panel or line break, and how to stick the emotional landing in a format that gives you almost no runway. These aren't content tips. They're narratology applied to a small screen — and once it clicks, you'll see vertical stories everywhere with completely different eyes.
The part I'm most proud of is the adaptation work. So many writers have a back catalogue of pieces they love that just aren't reaching people anymore — or ever reached the right people to begin with. There's a whole module in this school dedicated to finding the vertical thread inside your existing long-form work and rewriting it into something that pulls. Your best ideas deserve more than one format.
I want to be straight with you: this school won't make you go viral. That's not what it's for. What it will do is give you a repeatable, craft-grounded system for writing vertical stories that are genuinely good — stories that hook, that move, that land — and that you can keep producing without burning out or starting from scratch every time. That's the work. Come do it with me.
